Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose widely remembers in Tamenglong

Netaji Subhaschandra Bose was widely remembers on his 125 birthday in Tamenglong.

To marked the day special, 44 Assam Rifles Tamenglong Battalion under 22 Sector organized walkathon at Haipou Jadonang Park early in the morning today as part of Netaji Subhaschandra Bose 125 birthday celebration in Tamenglong.

44 Assam Rifles Commandant Col. Pradeepkumar kicks off the walkathon. Earlier two doves was released by Pradeepkumar and his wife Mrs Pallav Thakur as part of the parakram Diwas.

Speaking on the occasion 44 Assam Rifles Commandant Col. Pradeepkumar said that Netaji as he is popularly called by all Indians, was a prominent Indian freedom fighter who fought against the British forces Indian Independence.

He said that his unit has organized Makru Volleyball tournament in Tousum Sub Division & Army recruitment awareness session in T Waichung Sub division of Kangpokpi district.

He said at Azuiram village of Tousum sub division the much anticipated first ever Makru Volleyball tournament started with 20 teams competing for the first  position.

The tournament started with flag hoisting among Vande Matram chants. The final match of the tournament would be played on Republic day. The winning and runners up team shall be rewarded with Rs. 15000/- and Rs.10000/- each.

The commandant also informed that the 44 Assam Rifles and District administration Tamenglong is planned to organise mini marathon for both male and female on the martyrs day of the father of the nation on January 30.
