Tamenglong to reopen market from October 26

Tamenglong, 25th Oct.: All the business establishment including daily vegetable market was totally shut down following the declaration of the containment zone amid the spurt in COVID-19 spread in the town areas will reopen from Monday.

The decision to reopen the business establishment and shop was decided during the District Task Force meeting held on Friday at DC Office Tamenglong. The meeting also resolved on testing of all incoming inter-district passengers mandatorily free of cost on their arrival to the town and the tested persons need not test again for a duration of 10 days. There will be two testing centers, one at the Chief Medical Office complex and another at Rani Market first floor, which will be operational by Monday.

DC said that “By Monday the containment zone around the bazaar area will be lifted as it would complete seven days and disinfection has been done in the area. No landlord will forcefully evict or serve notice either verbally or written to any tenants on account of being COVID-19 positive as long as the tenant is willing to follow all the SOPs. Tamenglong should continue to welcome people from all walks of life,”

Further, he informed that the District Task Force on COVID-19 will continue to reach out to all following every SOPs and rules and regulation as part of Jan Andolan.

However, the district administration is yet to issue order to lift containment zones particularly in the Tamenglong bazaar areas till filling of this report.

In Tamenglong district, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases is nearing 1,000. The district is second highest among COVID-19 positive cases in the state. Three pateints have succumbed to the disease so far.

With the detection of 31 fresh COVID-19 positive cases from Tamenglong district on Saturday, the total number of positive cases has surged to 812 and 548 positive cases have recovered.
