MGNREGS employees Tamenglong cease work strike entered second day

TAMENGLONG, Sept. 17: National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) employees of Tamenglong staffs entered into second day cease work strike on Thursday. The employees were demanding regularization of their service like valley districts of Manipur.

The employees of Tamenglong district with banners and placards which read “stop injustice to Manipur Hill Districts”, “Regularize us like you regularized valley districts employees in 2006”, “MGNREGS staff will shun from work until our demand is fulfil”, etc. were sit in protest at the conference hall of DC Tamenglong today.

Speaking to media persons on the side of sit in protest, MGNREGS dedicated employees association president Injiangam Kamei said that Tamenglong has 15 staffs working since 2006.

Tamenglong district is the first district to implement MGNREGS in Manipur and they are working with dedication since inception. The government already regularized the valley districts in 2016 and leaving hill district employees.

Several memorandums was submitted to the government of Manipur for regularization of service but it went into deaf ears.

“We have no option left except to go cease work strike. We will continue our cease work strike till demand is fulfilled. This cease work strike will affect several job card holders who are supporting the family particularly during pandemic covid-19”, Injiangam Kamei said.
