Let us start cleaning from our own home, says Janghemlung Panmei

TAMENGLONG, Sept. 02: 151st birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhiji was observed on Friday at Haipou Jadonang Park, followed by a cleanliness drive organised by BJP Tamenglong Mandal in collaboration with PHED Tamenglong and Manipur Fire Service Tamenglong.

The programme was sponsored by former MLA and active member of BJP, Janghemlung Panmei, who is also the intended BJP candidate in 53- Tamenglong assembly constituency.

“As there is an old phrase saying ‘cleanliness is next to godliness’ being Christian we need to clean ourselves and homes. Let us start cleaning our own home,” said former MLA and active member of BJP, Janghemlung Panmei during the observance.

He also appreciated the two departments including PHED Tamenglong and Manipur Service Tamenglong and further appreciated media persons of Tamenglong.

During the cleanliness drives, disinfection was carried out widely at the medical gate and chief medical office, women’s market along the bazaar area where the containment zone was declared by the district magistrate of Tamenglong.

Disinfection was also carried out at the council junction area and DC Office complex of the district. Meanwhile, cleanliness drives were carried out at different places and office areas by the concerned departments.

However due to pandemic COVID-19, Gandhi Jayanti cleanliness drives could not be organised in a larger manner.

In Noney district, the National Cleanliness Day was jointly organised by the BJP Tamenglong district, Mahila Morcha, Yuva Morcha, Kishan Morcha and ST Morcha at Longmai Bazar and district institutional quarantine centre at Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School, Noney.

As the part of the mass cleanliness drive and sanitization activity of spraying sodium hypochlorite by the BJP Workers was conducted at Longmai Bazar and at containment zone areas, institutional quarantine centre, Noney, district police reserved line and some other private houses which were declared containment zones of COVID-19. Facemasks and hand sanitizers were also distributed at Noney bazaar.

As a part of the celebration, essentials foods items were donated for the district institutional quarantine centre at Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School, Noney by active member of BJP Manipur Pradesh, Gaidon Kamei. Trees plantation drive was also carried out at the campus of District Screening Centre, Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School.
