KSA calls for an indefinite economic blockade on Nagaland
Kohima, 16TH Nov (ANK): The Karbi Students’ Association, KSA supported by various Karbi Anglong based civil society organizations has decided to call for an indefinite economic blockade on Nagaland starting tomorrow protesting the alleged illegal encroachment by people of the State.
A joint meeting of the Bijoy Bey-led KSA, Simeon Rongphar-led KSA and other organizations held in Diphu yesterday decided to prohibit movement of all trucks/vehicles carrying essential items into Nagaland. They said that the blockade has been called to protest against unabated illegal encroachment inside Karbi Anglong in Assam.
They said that the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and the Assam government had also failed to protect its own land. Various Karbi Anglong based organizations have demanded for a tripartite talk between governments of Assam, Nagaland and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council to deliberate and resolve the border issue. Sources said Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong has requested his Dimapur counterpart for an official meeting to sort out the issue at official level.
