Tamenglong District Hospital : Shortage of specialist doctors
Tamenglong, 16 Nov: After highlighting acute shortage of specialist doctors and lack of amenity in the district hospital on ISTV and Imphal Free Press, joint student’s body inspected Tamenglong district hospital at Duigailong this evening.
The joint students bodies who visited district hospital includes Rongmei Naga Students’ Organization Manipur (RNSOM) President Daichuipou Gangmei and colleague, All Inpui Students’ Union (AISU) president Jessy Bariam, Zeme Students Organization Manipur (ZSOM) president Haizerangbe Paul, Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR) president Dinrai and colleagues.
The joint student’s body set 10 days to the government to post all required specialist doctors in Tamenglong district hospital, establishment of blood bank and dialysis unit at district hospital.
Speaking to ISTV, Rongmei Naga Students’ Organization Manipur (RNSOM)
President Daichuipou Gangmei said that if the government did not post within 10 days, the joint student’s bodies will intense agitation and if any untoward incident happens during agitation, the state government should bear the responsible.
He said that this is the second time reminding, earlier they met chief Minister of Manipur, deputy commissioner Tamenglong and chief medical officer Tamenglong has already demanding since many months back. However, till date no action has taken yet.
“We are going to launch intense agitation this time if the government did not pay heed to the demand within 10 days”. Daichuipou said.
He said that Tamenglong district has no medicine specialist doctor, no paediatrician, no ophthalmologist, no orthopaedic surgeon, no general surgeon, radiologist, psychiatrist, etc. even though sanction strength has two post each for the district hospital.
Tamenglong district hospital has no sweeper, no X-ray technician, no ultrasound technician, no blood bank, forensic, dialysis unit, and many more, he stated.
Before inspection to the district hospital Duigailong, the students’ body team met chief medical officer Tamenglong and had interacted about the requirement of the district hospital.
