62 case in Tamenglong
TAMENGLONG, Jun 19: At least 29 positive cases of pandemic COVID-19 were detected from one of the community quarantine centre of United Builder’s School Tamenglong on Friday in Tamenglong district.
United Builder’s School Tamenglong community quarantine centre has 130 inmates, of which 39 inmates received their test results while 91 inmates are yet to get results.
The remaining 101 inmates have to retest for COVID-19 again. With the detection of 29 positive cases today, the number of positive cases in Tamenglong district has climbed up to 62.
In all 62 positive cases, 14 positive cases have been cured and recovered till date. Those 29 positive cases detected today are returnees from metropolitan cities like Delhi etc. The district task force immediately shifted them to COVID-19 care facility in Imphal this evening.
The samples were collected on June 10 and their test results were received on June 19. Though the district health society packed 130 samples and sent them to the testing center, the results were declared for only 39 inmates.
The remaining 91 inmates of United Builder’s School community quarantine centre are going through shock and fear on learning that 29 of the 39 inmates have been tested positive for the virus.
The lack of testing facilities has added to the woe of Tamenglong district which suffers from poor road connectivity. By now, almost all vehicles transporting COVID-19 positive cases and returnees have gradually broken down due to bad roads.
There are 521 returnees staying at 11 community quarantine centres in Tamenglong district headquarters. Another six returnees are staying at the institutional quarantine centre.
It is reported that there are returnees whose samples are yet to be collected, though many results are also yet to be declared as well.
