One Covid- 19 positive detected from vegetable market in Tamenglong

One vegetable vendor woman was found COVID- 19 positive on Tuesday during random testing carried out by medical department at women’s market Tamenglong.

With the suspicion of local transmission of Corona virus in Tamenglong district headquarters, random testing for COVID-19 was conducted on Tuesday at women’s market Tamenglong for vegetable vendors and shop keepers.

The medical team led by District Immunization Officer Dr Sunil Kamei, District Malaria Officer Dr Felix Kamei and District AIDs Control Officer Dr Majachungliu Gracy collected more than one hundred samples and tested for COVID-19.

The medical team has able to as many as 106 samples from vegetable vendors and shop keepers where one woman vegetable vendor got confirmed positive among two suspicion persons.

With the detection of COVID- 19 positive today, Tamenglong district has surged 364 total positive cases, in which 336 positive cases had been recovered. As many as 28 COVID-19 positive patients excluding one minor child are active cases in Tamenglong COVID Care Centre at Mini Secretariat Complex, Tamenglong.

For the last few days, COVID-19 positive have been detected from Flu clinic OPD at District hospital Duigailong Tamenglong, Pharmacist, barbers, etc. The health department is yet to declare community transmission and take up necessary step in Tamenglong district headquarters.

The health department Tamenglong has carried out mass testing for COVID-19 to all passengers coming from Imphal to Tamenglong at district hospital, however all passengers reported tested negative.

In the meantime speaking to media person, District AIDs Control Officer Dr Majachungliu Gracy said that the random testing was carried out at market place as per the district task force meeting resolution.

Apart from distribution of face masks to all women vegetable venders, the health department also had given awareness on COVID- 19, she informed.

She told that he medical team has able to as many as 106 samples from vegetable vendors and shop keepers today where one woman vegetable vendor got confirmed positive COVID- 19 from among two suspicion persons.
