Workshop on COVID-19 vaccination with civil society and church organizations
DIPR : COVID-19 vaccination consultation work shop with civil society and church organizations was held on 24th February 2021 at Conference Hall, Medical Directorate, Kohima.
Principal Director, Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Kevichusa in his address said that Covid-19 vaccine provides an opportunity to shorten and to end the pandemic. He said that vaccination is the safest route back to our normal lives and urged all health workers to avail the vaccine since 25th February is the last date. He encouraged the gathering to be an influencer to support the need to get the vaccines done and at the same time to play an active and meaningful role in promoting the Covid-19 vaccination process a success. He mentioned that a safe and effective vaccine is being made available for all but will be made in a phase manner. The next phase will be covering for beneficiaries age 50 years and above and under 50 years with associated co- morbidities as per the direction of the Government of India.
Welcome remarks and introduction was made by Dr Longri Kichu, importance of covid vaccine was addressed by state immunization officer, DHFW Dr Ritu Thurr and updates of Covid-19 status was given by State Nodal Officer, IDSP, Dr. Nyan Kikon. SMO, WHO, Dr Sheila Longkumer gave an overview and strategy of the vaccination drive. Dr Temsu Longchar, SPO, UNDP spoke on COWIN portal. FAQ/Discussion was also held with the consultant UNICEF and with IEC team members.
