Vijay Diwas observes in Tamenglong
TAMENGLONG, Dec. 16: 44th Battalion of Assam Rifles Tamenglong under the aegis of Headquarter 22 Sect AR on Wednesday widely organised Vija Diwas at their camp complex Tamenglong.
Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong Armstrong Pame, Sub- Divisional Tamenglong Mahesh Chadhuri, Chief Medical Officer Tamenglong Dr Chambo Gonmei, Medical Superintendent Dr Guidiathiu Kamei, Shivalaya Construction Private Limited Project Coordinator Satendra Kr Singh were the main guests of the programme.
In his speech, Deputy Commission Tamenglong Armstrong Pame urged all to continue to pay tribute to all who had glory for the country during war in 1971.
While encouraging the people of Tamenglong to be patriotic and he also urged to do good thing to bring glorious to the society.
In his welcome speech, Commandant of 44 Assam Rifles Col Pradeepkumar said that the battalion is celebrating Vijay Diwas every year on December 16 to commemorate Indian Armed Forces victory over Pakistan Armed Forces in 1971 war.
He said the unique and unparalleled victory resulted in 93,000 armed Pakistan troops surrendering to Indian Armed Forces in 1971 war result is also a testimony of hundreds of brave soldiers of North East who forced Pakistan to bow down in front of their army.
“The bravery of our soldiers especially from North East states was acknowledged worldwide. The 13 days war culminated on 16 December 1971”, Col Pradeepkumar said.
He informed that the Martyrs were remembered by wreath lying in the morning followed by weapon display in the afternoon. The venue had other informative stalls on benefits & schemes for Ex- service men, how to join Army, COVID awareness & local handicrafts.
The unit in its endeavour to promote self- employment through handicrafts has been supporting local artisans in finding prospective buyers for their products.
As part of the Vija Diwas celebration, huge weapons and local handicrafts were displayed in the celebration venue, where many people were attracted.
