United women urges not to inaugurate incomplete project in Tamenglong

Tamenglong, Jan. 27: The United Women Organisation Tamenglong in a statement wants a fully completed project for inauguration and not the half-complete Project.

The statement issued by its president stated that public utility facility like the much-needed water supply scheme is due to be inaugurated by the CM of Manipur on 29th January 2021 is still in its initial stage of construction especially at Gadai Range.

Similarly, Lower Ground construction is nowhere near completion. There is a cloud of apprehension among the people that history may repeat itself, she said.

“Are projects inaugurations before the work completion really benefitting the citizens of Tamenglong? Obviously, this is not in many cases. The long sufferer denizens of Tamenglong deserved nothing less than a fully functional projects of a good quality finished work and a fit-for purpose assets. Let the public make good use of it.

Take for instance, the inauguration of Mini-Secretariat by Shri P. Chidambaram, we all know what is the status now. Do we really make use of it? District Hospital is another example of inauguration before completion, the list goes on.

Inauguration of many incompletes projects by the politicians may add additional feather to his/her political career but unfortunately it is the general public who bear career the brunt and are deprived of such facilities within the stipulated time. The public have had enough of this.

Dear inauguration or would-be inaugurators make sure that the project is completed first and after that whatever any government ceremonial procedure is to be done, kindly does it, otherwise it is not worth doing it. We have full hope that the state government machinery would also went to imprint its legacy in bringing a holistic and sustainable development in the most backward district of Manipur”, the statement said.
