Passenger Service for Tamenglong-Tousem Area launches
Tamenglong, 04: With an aims to lessen the burden of neglected Tousem Sub- Divisional of Tamenglong district of Manipur, taxi passenger service was launched yesterday near vegetable market shed Tamenglong.
The launching program was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong Armstrong Pame as chief guest. Zeme Naga Baptist Church Tamenglong pastor Rev. Namreikeu Pame called upon God’s blessing for new vehicle and safety journey along Tamenglong- Tousem area.
Speaking to the mammoth gathering, Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong Armstrong Pame informed that the vehicle was jointly bought and donated by Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai, Tamenglong DC, Armstrong Pame and SDO Tousem i/c Paul Nangsha.
He also informed that the district administration has also plan to have more vehicle for the Tousem area and he urged the people to use the vehicle with care.
In the meantime, in a shocking incident one vehicle was stuck up at the Barak suspension bridge due to damage of wooden planks while crossing the bridge.
It may be mentioned here that the old suspension bridge over Barak River between Namtiram and old Tamenglong which had been abandoned was repaired and utilized after new bridge was collapsed few years back.
In the meantime, Saramba Segment Voice (SSV) has appealed the concerned authority to repair the bridge at the earliest time as possible. Stating that crossing of Barak River over suspension bridge is the only life of the Tousem area.
With the dried season is approaching, people in the area have to buy required things for family as vehicle did not access during the rainy season.
