Tamenglong gets two new development projects

TAMENGLONG, Aug. 28: Chief Minister of Manipur Nongthombam Biren Singh through video conferencing laid foundation stones for two development projects at Tamenglong district headquarters.

The new two development projects are for development of natural grass football ground at Mini Stadium Tamenglong and for construction of Library –cum- employment information centre.

The unfurl of foundation stone was done by the Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong Armstrong Pame and Superintendent of police Sandip Mohurle on behalf of chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh in the presence of SDO Tamenglong Mahesh Chaudhari, SDO Tousem Paul, DRDA Project Officers Acham Kamei and Kamiuthuan kamei, students and other dignitaries.

Speaking to media persons on the side of the laying foundation stone, the deputy commissioner Tamenglong Armstrong Pame said that the foundation stone for construction of Natural grass football field was laid today which is long dream of the people of this district.

“In the past we had seen the children doing march pass in this muddy ground, some of them lost their shoe, some of them torn their uniform while doing march pass. So with this ground been constructed we will no longer be experiencing such bad time again, we look forward to have well laid out ground”.

“The children irrespective of the being sun shine or rain will be able to walk on the dried ground in the next march pass and also we will have eight running tracks along the ground. With this we hope players and sport aspirant of our district will also be enjoy the facilities” Armstrong said.

He also informed that the project has multi-purpose discipline facilities. Multi-purpose hall has been already being constructed. The floor is going to repair for putting up new technology so that this can be utilize for indoor sport like boxing, taekando and many others.

He told that under this project some building will repair will make special arrangement for the player’s room and work will star very soon.

“Along the parameter of the ground we are planning to have cycling tracks about 480 metres along the ground and many more coming up within this project”.

“We are progressing quite well I should say. But the bad weather has been one of the disturbing factors and also the pandemic has topped the work for last four months. However, we expect to complete at the earliest”.

“This was commitment given by CM Biren Singh when he came to Tamenglong in 15 November 2017, he had made a promised to enhance and make one of the finest ground in the state. Today we are seeing coming true”.

“We want to thank the state government led by CM, minister of the concerned department for their concerned for Tamenglong district and also special thanked to the Commissioner of Minority Affairs Jacintha Lazarus who had been DC of Tamenglong earlier, and she has really- really working hard for this project. I am sure with this the people of Tamenglong will see new life”, Pame said.

Regarding the library – cum- employment centre, Tamenglong, he said that people of Tamenglong has been waiting so long time for such project.

“We have proposed it and it was accepted, now we got sanction, we are planning to set up near United Builder’s School Tamenglong, the land has been donated by Zeliangrong Evangelistic Fellowship Tamenglong (ZEF). We will be setting up library centre with proper internet connection, everything and we will be serving as employment information centre, people can download and fill up the online form for various examination, they can also come and study there, so we hope to complete this project very soon”, Armstrong Pame said.
