Two youth died after Gypsy falls into ditch

Tamenglong, 22 Nov: There were reports that two youths died on the spot while another two were seriously injured in a tragic vehicle accident that occurred at Forest Gate Duigailong village in Tamenglong district H/Q on Saturday night.

The two deceased were identified as Ragulung K. Gangmei, 25 years, son of Thiumuanang K. Gangmei and Gaiduanrei Rauangmei, 25, son of Miukhamrei Raungmei. The two seriously injured youths were identified as Hunilang Gangmei, 26, son of Chungamang and Gaithaolung Gangmei, son of Tingiamdimang.

According to sources, the accident took place when the four youths were traveling in a white Gypsy and approaching Tamenglong district HQ in between 7.30-8. 00 PM evening along NH-137 driven by Gaithaolung Gangmei. As the driver does not know how to drive well, the Gypsy falls off the road into a ditch at the height of around 30 feet tall into a worksite where road expansion is currently going on.

The work expansion is being looked after by National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). Further sources said that, soon after the accident news reached the DC of Tamenglong, Armstrong Pame. He rushed to the spot along with some security personnel and brought the two seriously injured, Hulinang and Gaithaolung to Tamenglong District Hospital along with the others who were declared dead.

It also said that later, the two injured two persons were transferred to Imphal for treatment. Presently Hunilang is undergoing treatment at RIMS Hospital and Gaithaolung has been kept in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Raj Medicity hospital, North AOC, said the source. One among the deceased, Gaiduanrei Ruangmei, is a local cyclist who won 4th position in cycling during State Level Orange Festival 2017.
