About Us

Connecting Community to the World – and the World to the Community

Nambon.com was launched with a vision to bridge the information gap and connect communities across Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland. Since its registration on 13th June 2003, the website has grown from a small initiative into a trusted source for local news, current events, and cultural stories, translated and shared in English, Zeme, Liangmai, and Rongmei. Our mission is simple yet profound: to inform, to preserve, and to connect.

Our Journey

L o g o

The early 2000s marked a turning point for digital communication. At a time when the world was saying farewell to GeoCities, mIRC, and Yahoo! Messenger, and when Orkut was thriving as the first popular social platform ahead of Hi5 and Facebook, Nambon.com emerged as a space for our community to engage, inform, and stay connected.

The domain was created to ensure that voices from our region would not be lost in the noise of global platforms but instead amplified and shared with the world.

Local Roots
– Pawan Racham

Our journey is deeply tied to Pawan Racham, a weekly newspaper started in 2003 in the Liangmai dialect for Tamei village and its surrounding areas. Voluntarily led by online editor and media persons Mr. Albert Njuta, Late Mr. Abing Newme, and their colleagues — with the support of nearby villages and the Tamei CSC (NIC)Pawan Racham found its online home at Nambon.com. This became one of the first steps toward building a sustainable digital news presence for the region.

Our Commitment

For more than two decades, Nambon.com has remained committed to:

  • Delivering reliable and community-centered news.
  • Preserving and promoting local languages.
  • Acting as a bridge between tradition and modern communication.
  • Showcasing the unique voices of our people to the global audience.

As we continue to grow, our guiding vision remains unchanged: to connect communities, strengthen identities, and ensure that no story is left untold.

We develop and maintain websites for educational institutions, churches, NGOs, and community-focused organizations. Working with these organizations is an important part of our services, helping them strengthen their online presence while we continue to provide reliable web solutions.

Founder’s Legacy

The heart behind Nambon.com lies in a story of memory and legacy. The site is maintained by Mr. Machangbibo Chawang, youngest son of the Late Nambonbou Chawang. Having lost his father at the age of five on 25th September 1982, without even a photograph to remember him by, Machangbibo was inspired to create a platform where stories, identities, and voices would never fade away.

What began as a personal journey of remembrance into one of the region’s earliest community-focused online platforms. What began as a tribute has since grown into a community-driven mission — preserving languages, sharing culture, and connecting people both locally and globally.
