Naga Raj and Freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang 89th Martyr day 2020
Tamenglong, August 29: The Naga Raj and Freedom fighter of Nagas, Haipou Jadonang was widely remembered in Tamenglong district on his 89th Martyr day on Saturday.
Haipou Jadonang Death Anniversary Committee under the aegis of Zeliangrong Union Tamenglong organized 89th Martyr Day of Haipou Jadonang at the Jadonang Memorial Park, Tamenglong district headquarters early in the morning.
Wreaths and flowers were offered and silent prayer was observed as marked of respect and honour to Haipou Jadonang.
Zeliangrong Union Assam, Manipur and Nagaland vice president Namdinang Daimei spoke the brief history of Naga Raj and Freedom fighter of Haipou Jadonang.
Zeliangrongpui Naga Customary Research Society Tamenglong Chairman Ngamthuiyang Pamei also spokes on the occasion.
Political aspiration and British Colonialism
A formal program of state level Haipou Jadonang Martyr Day under the theme political aspiration of Haipou Jadonang at the back drop of British Colonialism was held at Indoor stadium Tamenglong.
The programme was jointly organised by Rongmei Naga Students organisation Manipur in collaboration with the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur, Rongmei Naga Youth organisation and Rongmei Luh Phuam Tamenglong zone.
RH Gonmei IAS (retired) spoke as resource person and he spoke on the theme political aspiration of Haipou Jadonang at the back drop of British Colonialism. Before reading out his paper presentation, RH Gonmei said pointed out the need to undergo deeply in the history of Haipou Jadonang.
GPRN/NSCN Zeilad Region Central Administrative Officer George Golmei in his exhortation speech mentioned that Naga national movement which came upto signing of Framework Agreement is the footprint of Haipou Jadonang.
Naga Raj and Freedom fighter
Haipou Jaodonang from his early life has a great consciousness for his people. He opposed to pay hill house tax to the British and knowing that Naga in Manipur would not able to conquer the British.
His campaign to oppose and fight against the British has reached Naga Hills in Nagaland, he narrated. Forefather has done in their capacity to bring the Naga solution, now the present era has much to do and people of Rongmei and its cognate tribe Zeme, Liangmei, Inpui need to work harder for the Naga issue following the footprint of Haipou Jadonang, he said.
Zeilad Region CAO also mentioned that Haipou Jadonang was implicated wrongly accused in the murder case while looking for his fault to be kill. He was hang and killed on 29 August in 1931.
His birth place Puiluan (Kambiron) village
The 89th Death Anniversary of freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang is also observed at his birthplace Puiluan (Kambiron) village under Nungba police station of Noney District. Rich floral tributes with gun salute were paid at his tomb site situated at old upper Puiluan. The 89th Martyr day programme has showcased the cultural items.
