The death of a 77 year-old man from Chandel district, the total death toll in the State has reached 6 with 135 persons including 80 CAPF personnel tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours and 13 person cured/ recovered as discharged from hospital.
Sangai Express: As per a report furnished by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 55 persons including 43 males and 12 females tested positive for the virus during the last 24 hours. 37 of them have no significant travel history. Sources said the 37 cases with no travel history include 22 from Yairipok Tulihal and Ningthounai, and some from Khongman and Nilakuthi areas.
While 27 of them tested COVID-19 positive at JNIMS, 14 were tested positive at Babina Diagnostics. 12 tested positive at RIMS and one each tested positive at district hospitals of Bishnupur and Tameng-long.
RIMS clarifies on how it tackles COVID-19 issue
A press release issued by RIMS Medical Superintendent Prof Ch Arunkumar said that RIMS Hospital has treated 285 COVID-19 patients and 241 got well and discharged as a result of working tirelessly by doctors, nurses and other frontline workers.
At the moment, there are 44 patients in RIMS Hospital COVID ward.
Due to the increasing number of positive cases among health care workers, the authority issued a circular and tested almost all the staff for COVID-19 on 23rd, 24th, 25th, 29th and 30th July and nearly 2000 employees including the patients have been tested so far by available resources. Still the testing process is going on at the VRDL through Flu Clinic.
It also clarified that RIMS authority has been issuing large number of PPE for personal safety of frontline workers and so far 5758 PPE have been issued as per hospital record while trying to contain this menacing contagion disease. There is no shortage of PPE, N-95 masks and they are promptly issued whenever demanded.
