Tamenglong district have been motorable except Pumram and Zenning village

Tamenglong, Jan. 31: Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong Armstrong Pame assures all possible help to reach far villages at the launching programme of Pulse Polio Immunization. He said all villages in Tamenglong district have been motorable except Pumram and Zenning village in Tousem Sub- Division.

District Immunization Officer Dr Sunil Kamei said that as many as 13408 children from zero to five years will be given Pulse Polio drops in Tamenglong and Noney District.

Dr Sunil Kamei was speaking to media persons on the side of the launching programme of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) 2021 at the official Bungalow of Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong on Sunday morning.

The launching programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong Armstrong Pame as chief guest. Sub- Regional Team Leader of World Health Organizer (WHO) Dr Rajendra Kummar Singh and Chief Medical Officer Tamenglong Dr Chambo Gonmei attended as guest of honour and president of the function respectively. Zonal Education Officer Tamenglong Dimonang Pamei, ASHAs and Aganwadi workers attended the launching programme.

DIO Dr Sunil Kamei further said that Health department has opened 140 booths to covers 7583 children zero to 5 years old. To make sure every child from zero to five years old children the health department appointed 28 Supervisor. Those children left out from 140 booths, ASHAs and Angawadi workers will visits door to door in 10,256 households in Tamenglong district.

Regarding Noney district, DIO Dr Sunil Kamei said that as many as 20 Supervisor were appointed to covers 5825 in 100 booths. And those children left out from 100 booths, will be administered by ASHAs and Anganwadi workers visiting door to doors in 7817 households within two- three days to make sure all children are immunized.

The Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong Armstrong Pame in his chief guest requests all health workers to make sure all children are administering with Pulse Polio so that the dreadful disease did not afflict to any children in the future.

Armstrong Pame also said that education and health sectors are his top priority but he could not do much on education, due to pandemic COVID-19.

He also announced to give Rupees twenty thousand (Rs. 20,000/-) to most active nurse at PHC level and ASHAs with first second and third with Rs. 10000/- (Ten thousand) at PHC level.

Sub- Regional Team Leader of World Health Organizer (WHO) Dr Rajendra Kummar Singh and Chief Medical Officer Tamenglong Dr Chambo Gonmei also spoke on the occasion.

Dr Chambo Gonmei mentioned that some villages refused to take pulse polio stating that polio medicine is for birth control.

“This kind of tattoo and belief is due to lack of knowledge about the disease and medicine. I urged the ASHAs to give awareness and clear the doubts”, chief medical officer Dr Chambo Gonmei said.
