DC & DEO Kohima Informs Electors for Bye-Election

Kohima, 27th Oct. (DIPR): The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Kohima, Mohammed Ali Shihab A has informed all concerned that the Election Commission of India vide its order No. 3/4/ID/2020/SDR/VOL-II dated 14th October, 2020 has directed that for the current Bye-Election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 14 Southern Angami –I (ST) AC, all the electors who have been issued EPICs shall produce their EPICs for their identification at the polling station before casting their votes. Those electors who are not able to produce the EPIC shall have to produce one of the following alternative photo identity for establishing their identity:

  1. Aadhaar Card
  2. MGNREGA Job Card
  3. Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank/Post Office
  4. Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour
  5. Driving License
  6. PAN Card
  7. Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR
  8. Indian Passport
  9. Pension document with photograph
  10. Service Identity Card with photograph issued to employees by Central/State Govt./PSUs/Public Limited Companies, and
  11. Official Identity Cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs

It may be noted that PHOTO VOTER SLIP SHALL NOT BE ACCEPTED AS A STAND-ALONE IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENT FOR VOTING, though it will be prepared and issued to electors. Electors are required to carry EPIC or one of the 11 alternative documents as specified above by the Commission for voting.

The poll will take place on 3rd November, 2020 (Tuesday), and the polling time will be between 6:00 AM to 4:00 P.M
