One selected to under go free heart surgery of 11 screening

Tamenglong, Feb. 6: The district administration Tamenglong in collaboration with District Health Society Tamenglong and Shija Hospital Imphal on Saturday conducted free screening of cleft lip, palate and congenital heart disease at district hospital Duigailong Tamenglong.

Dr Pankaj Gupta Inventional Paediatric cardiologist led the eight doctors and have screen for clefts, heart diseases and other defects at Tamenglong district hospital.

In all 11 patients screen 8 are cleft lip and three are heart disease and one is selected to undergo free heart surgery.

In the meantime Chief Medical Officer Tamenglong Dr Chambo Gonmei thanked the district administration and doctors team from Shija hospital Imphal for taking care of heart patient of Tamenglong district.

He said that many people registered for screening but only 11 patients are screened. He said even far flung Tousem district are coming.

He urged all citizens of Tamenglong to attend such kind free screening, as operation involved huge amount of money which poor people can’t effort.

Doctors team from Shija hospital also given training on how detect cleft lip or congenital heart defects.
