One day training on segregation of waste at Peren

As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Peren Township a one-day training on segregation of waste at source for the womenfolk of Peren Town was conducted at Peren Town Hall with resource persons from ‘LIFE NGO’, Nagaland, Limaramak Jamir and Athungbeni Ovung on 21ts May 2022.

Limaramak Jamir, after inspection of Peren, said at present 80% of Peren has been segregating wastes and emphasized the need for womenfolk to attend training from the Plastic Management Office & Training Resource Centre Jalukie. He also spoke on the importance of community & ULB cooperation and adopting collective responsibility for segregating the waste.

Athungbeni Ovung spoke on the importance of Waste Management in households and its impact and improper disposal of waste and the benefits of waste segregation. She said improper solid waste management not only creates health hazards to individuals but also to the whole community.

After the formal programme, a short interaction session was also held. The program was chaired by Rampauyi Ndang while ADC & Administrator Peren Town council, Keyirangding Hegui, NCS delivered the keynote address.
