Assam Rifles organizes awareness campaign on COVID-19 vaccination

Tamenglong, Feb. 08: With an aims to honour the veterans of Assam Rifles and Indian Army of Tamenglong district and have good relationship with the security forces, 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Sector 22 Sect/IGAR (East) on Monday organised Veteran Mela at Tamenglong camp complex.

Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) Major General Ranjit Singh, inaugurated the Veteran Mela. As many as 50 Exservicemen alongwith their dependents attended the event.

A colourful cultural event was held for the veterans which refresh their memories of serving in defence forces.

A story depicting the life of Rani Gaidinliu, the great freedom fighter of Tamenglong district who was conferred the Title “Rani” and addressed as “Daughter of the Hills” by First Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru was also showcased to the audience in form of skit.

The efforts and sacrifice made by Rani Gadinliu for achieving the independence and for social upliftment of the Zeliangrong community was deliberated upon in the skit.

In his speech as chief guest, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) Major General Ranjit Singh emphasised upon the importance of role of veterans in improving the society.

He said Assam Rifles is committed to bring peace and harmony in the north east for which every possible assistance is being provided to local populace especially Assam Rifles veterans by Assam Rifles. He acknowledged the significant contribution of veterans towards the nation building.

He also coveys his sincere thanked to all the veterans for their invaluable service and sacrifice made by veterans while guarding the borders of the nation.

Noney- 8th Feb.,2021: Noney Battalion under the aegis of Headquarters 21 Sector Assam Rifles and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organized an Awareness Programme on COVID-19 vaccination campaign at Taobam Village, Noney District, Manipur on 08 Feb 2021.

A lecture on awareness about COVID-19 vaccination was delivered to the locals regarding the guidelines promulgated by the government and state Health Department. A total of 25 villagers attended the Awareness programme.
