141 fresh case with 27 cured/ discharged in the last 24 hours in the state. A 56-year-old person from Khongjom Sapam in Thoubal district died at RIMS today. He was admitted at RIMS on May 22 with multiple health issues like chronic kidney failure, long standing Type-2 Diabetes Melitus, Urosepsis and hypertension. He was found COVID-19 positive on July 26. He died at around 2 am today. The body of the 56-year-old is being kept at RIMS morgue and it has been handed over to the Imphal West district administration to be disposed of within 48 hours as per the guideline, said sources.

Another COVID-19 patient with kidney ailment is in critical condition at RIMS. There are at least four COVID-19 patients with comorbidity at present at RIMS. While two of them have kidney related ailments, the other two have  heart problems.

The number of cases among the staff of RIMS has reached 19 including the PG student (Medicine) who tested positive for the virus yesterday. About 700 staff of the institution will be tested for the virus tomorrow, added the sources.

On the other hand, the number of cases in the State has reached 2458 with 141 testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, said a report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.

The 141 persons including 117 males and 24 females tested positive for the virus at RIMS (12 cases), JNIMS (78), District Hospital Thoubal (7), Churachandpur (9), Tamenglong (4), Babina Diagnostics Centre  (2), 1st MR (3) and Imphal West RAT (26).
