Gift of Love
⚜ Jacob had such tough decisions to make.
Should he take the risk of sending Benjamin? Should he trust the brothers to defend Benjamin, when they had not been able to save Joseph? Should he jeopardise the well-being of so many to hold onto what brought him joy? ( Remember that at that point Jacob did not know the true story of Joseph’s disappearance.)
⚜ Jacob finally did allow Benjamin to go, so that his entire family might be saved from starvation.
✝ Such a wonderful picture of God the Father, who loved us so much, that He gave His Only Son to be the Bread of Life for us. We tend to take the love of God for granted. We don’t often think about what it cost Him to purchase our return back to His arms.
⚜ Like Abraham years before, Jacob gave his son Benjamin by committing him into the Lord’s hands. Gen 43:14
Over the years, Jacob had grown & his faith had deepened. He started out by thinking of God as the God of Abraham & Isaac… In fact he referred to God as ‘the fear of Isaac.’ Gen 31:53
Now, over the years he has tasted and seen that the Lord is good.
He had learnt that God, not Man is Almighty.
He had come to know that El Shaddai is the One whose grace is sufficient in all situations, because He is the God of all compassion.
Therefore, he sends his sons out in El Shaddai’s care, trusting El Shaddai to grant his sons favour & compassion with the princes of Egypt. Gen 43:14
⚜ Fear and distance from God, had turned into love for & trust in God… A good time to stop and think back over our own faith journeys, to see how God has been changing us… To think about how our understanding of who He is has grown because we have tasted & seen that the Lord is good…
⚜ Jacob thought over his life and he bowed down and worshiped the God who had led him so wonderfully all these years… So different from Isaac who at the end of his life was focused only on ‘mutton masala & naan’…
⚜ Judah too had changed over the years. He started out being a man who looked for profit & pleasure. He had shifted out of the family enclave by going to live in Adullam. But he had known what it was to lose 2 sons. He had been publicly humiliated by Tamar. He understood the pain of his father, and stepped in to bring comfort & assurance to Jacob. Gen 43:9
✝ Here, in Judah we see a shadow of Jesus our Elder Brother who gave his life for us. Judah steps in to offer himself to be the substitute, to bear responsibility for bringing Benjamin safely back home.
Abba Father, thank You for loving us so much that You gave Your Beloved Son so that we might partake of the Bread of Life. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit who enables us to taste and see that You are good. Thank You for Your faithfulness, amazing love and unending grace. As we look back, we can see how gently & tenderly You have been shaping us to be more like Christ. Thank You. In Jesus Name. Amen.
How is your parenting?
Jacob had 12 sons and one daughter. When the 10 sons of Jacob are wicked, how come Joseph and Benjamin are godly?
Message to Parents:
Jacob did not take heed to bring up his children in a godly way until he encountered with God at Peniel (Genesis 32:24,30) as a result his 10 sons are gone astray and his only daughter Dinah was defiled and his sons massacred and destroyed the city because they defiled their sister. Jacob was much grieved in his life because of this incident.
Jacob loved his children but not with godly love.
Joseph was born just before and Benjamin was born just after Jacob's encounter with God. But by that time all his other children were grown up and they were out of control.
What do we learn by this?
As a parent first we must experience God personally and then when we should teach our children.
That's what St. Paul while writing to Corinthian's he says " I keep under my body and bring it to subjection lest that by any means when I have preached to others I myself should be a castaway " (1Cor9:27 KJV)
Loving our children doesn't mean providing them good education, properties and other earthly things.
Loving our children means educating them the values of spiritual life, prayer life, Godfearing life, providing Sunday School, and most importantly by leading an exemplary life. It is because Joseph learnt all these qualities in his dad's life he was able to overcome the temptations at his very young age. He was blessed and became a channel of blessing to many people.
Dear parents let us not remain as Jacob not taking proper care of their spiritual life. But let us be transformed as Israel experiencing God and sharing those experiences with our children.
Remember we and our descendants are not called with an ordinary calling,
but ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:(1Pet 2:9 KJV)
Let's create a spiritual next generation
Darkness to Light
Joseph's life was filled with darkness from the time he was a teenager. The jealousy and anger of his brothers brought this darkness into his life.
First he was put in the Pit, then sold to Potiphar, landed in his house and from there to the Prison. He never knew what his future would be.
Only one thing he knew for sure was that "The Lord was with him". The Lord God was always watching over him.
As gold is refined in the fire, Joseph through all his trials was being refined by God to enter a bright future.
In the prison he was forgotten by the cup bearer who was released. So for two more years he continued in the dark.
He trusted that delays are not denials. When God opens the door no one can shut it.
Pharoah had two dreams which no one could interpret. Only then the cup bearer remembered Joseph and told the king about him.
Joseph was brought out of the prison. He was able to interpret the dreams because God was with him.
Joseph who was downtrodden for so many years, was lifted high to be in charge of the whole land of Egypt.
☀ For Joseph who was in darkness God opened the door and led him into a bright future.
God made him to forget all his troubles and made him fruitful.

Your pain is for a high purpose, high calling and a high promotion ~ Your pain trains you to comfort others.
Now Joseph was governor over the land, and it was he who sold to all the people of the land. And Joseph's brothers came and bowed down before him with their faces to the earth.
The above scripture portion tells us that Joseph was governor over the land and he sold grain to all the people. Joseph's first dream of his brothers bowing down to him comes to pass (Genesis 37:5-8).
We serve a God who fulfills what He reveals, it was revealed to Joseph in advance years before that his brothers will bow down before him it took some years to come to pass, but it came to pass, What heaven reveals heaven is bound to bring it to pass, come what may they will be fulfilled.
God speaks to His children in many ways and one of them is through dreams and visions. In the Bible He has spoken to many people, He spoke to Abimelech an unbelieving king in a dream asking him not to touch Sarah Abraham's wife, He spoke to Laban an unbeliever in a dream asking him not to harm Jacob, He spoke to Joseph in a dream about his future, He spoke to Pharaoh in a dream about the famine which is going to hit the land, He spoke to Joseph in a dream asking him to take Mary as his wife when he was wanting to call off his marriage with her and after the birth of Jesus he once again spoke to him in a dream to take the young Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, He spoke in a dream to the three wise men who came from the east to Jerusalem to worship Jesus asking them not to meet Herod the king and He spoke to Saul (Paul) in a vision about persecution. God uses dreams to convey His plan, purpose, future and also to warn people not to touch or cause harm to His children.
Many in the body of Christ believe that the Holy Spirit bestows only nine gifts, but the truth is that the Holy Spirit gives various kinds of gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4).
A God given gift will carry a person into his God given destiny, Joseph had the gift of breaking open dreams it carried him into Pharaoh's palace and he was made governor and that was the reason why his brothers bowed down to him touching the earth and his dream came to pass. Abraham had the gift of faith and he is known as the father of faith, it carried him into his destiny father of many nations. Jacob had the gift of multiplication wherever he set his foot things multiplied he set foot in his father in law and uncle Laban's house his flock and earnings multiplied, he and his family of seventy people set foot in Egypt and in a period of four hundred and thirty years the whole nation of Israel came out and they still exist. Moses had the gift of performing miracles, signs and wonders it not only helped him, but also the children of Israel to get into the promised land. Jesus operated in the gifts of prophecy, healing, deliverance, miracles, signs and wonders, teaching and preaching and He fulfilled the plan, purpose and vision that God had for Him on this earth and He is now seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for you and me. Paul had the gift of healing, teaching, preaching and writing he wrote thirteen epistles in the Bible and he preached and turned the world upside down for Jesus.
Every believer is loaded with God given gifts it is our duty and responsibility to identify the gifts that God has placed in the inside of us and use it for the expansion of God's kingdom on this earth.
Beloved use your God given gifts and walk into your God given destiny and be a blessing to the kingdom of God and others.
This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare.
1 Timothy 1:18
Do not neglect the gift in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.
Meditate on these things give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.
1 Timothy 4:14,15.
God loves you
"The real blessing"
But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”(Genesis 32:26)
✍Jacob decided to go back to his home and hence sent the messengers to Esau seeking his favor. When the messengers returned to Jacob, they said, “We went to your brother Esau, and now he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.” Jacob was scared and he tried to s prepare himself along with his belongings to meet his brother. We see here how he arranges his assets, his family etc. Finally, that night Jacob crossed the ford of the Jabbok along with his family. He sent them across the stream and he sent over all his possessions. Now he was all alone the rest of that night. It was at this particular time that he wrestled with the angel of the Lord.
✍What was he wrestling for? He was wrestling for a true blessing that neither his material wealth nor the richness of his family could give. Let us please look at the prayer of Jacob to God before this incident. He said "I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness you have shown your servant. I had only my staff when I crossed this Jordan, but now I have become two camps". As we learned here, Jacob acquired lots of wealth from a worldly point of view. He had donkey, cattle, sheep, male and female servants and many more. He had two wives and 11 children. But, he was restless and scared when he knew that his brother was coming to meet him along with 400 men.
✍Jacob was restless and distressed even when he was possessing all these worldly blessings. He wrestled with the angel of the Lord asking for a true blessing so that he and his family and all his belongings can be spared from Easau' s wrath. He was trying to remind God about His promise too! It was after he received this true blessing through wrestling that he got his new name, 'Israel'. Later we see how he is bowing before his brother crying out and hugging him. Wasn't he seeking forgiveness from all his mistakes?
✍What type of blessing are we expecting from our Lord my dear brothers and sisters? Jesus came to give us life in abundance. This life is filled with his amazing grace, peace and joy that no one can steal. Is this the blessing we are after or the so called blessing that is perishable? It is true that children of God may need these worldly blessings too as they live in this world. But, Jesus has told us to seek His kingdom first and then all these will be added unto us. Then we will realised that some of our 'needs' are just 'wants' and even in their absence we can live a peaceful and contented life! Isn't it God's amazing grace to face each and every situation in our lives(both good and bad), the true blessing?
May God help us to identify the true blessing in our lives and be thankful to the giver. Amen.♀
Genesis Chapter 41
JOSEPH - FROM HUMILIATION TO EXALTATION
Joseph's life is pinballed from the pit of despair to the heights of power and influence. Yet his ability to rise up above betrayal , disappointment, pain, loneliness , humiliation and injustice had prepared Joseph to serve in positions of authority.
✅ Joseph's suffering severed him from his family but offered him the opportunity to seek God in darkness and later offer his brothers the forgiveness ( 45:4-7) .
The prison removed him from the comforts of wealth and status but offered him the opportunity to cultivate his leadership abilities and use his gifts in the life of Pharaoh himself.
The lessons of the pit and the prison were critical to Joseph's successful leadership , and he stewarded well those experiences to become a servant leader.
✅ We wonder what the Egyptians thought when a despised Hebrew was exalted over them ! Yet over the years God had been preparing Joseph for this role . Paul writes , " Be very careful .. how you live - making the most of every opportunity.." ✒ Eph 5:15-16 . Let us consider some of the skills he had acquired during his years of suffering :
He had learnt Egyptian language, habits, court etiquette while he was in Potiphar's home; he had learnt to handle responsibilities, servant leadership and management. God never calls someone to service without preparation whom he has chosen.
Beloved, let us learn some important lessons from Joseph's life :
》 Even when he was at his lowest points , Joseph still choose to believe that God is with him.
》 Joseph was committed to moral integrity , even when it meant that it would cost him his freedom.
》 Joseph was prepared not only to fully forgive those who had betrayed him , but even to seek their best interests .
》 Joseph learned early the importance of investing - relationally, materially and financially.
Our God is great and able .. He will lift us out of the slimy clay ; He will set our feet on the rock and will give us a firm place to stand ; He will put a new song into our mouths- a hymn of praise to our God .
Glory to God

Postioned for Promotion as Providential Provision Provider...Genesis 41-39-40.
The Door to the Palace was in the Pit for Joseph, but Joseph didn't know that. There are times when nothing makes sense in our Natural Mind when we are in Pit experience. Sometimes we fall accidentally through foolishness and ignorance. Other times through stubbornness or disobedience, in which case we need to repent and get pulled out by God's grace.
But, the most painful one is when we are pushed into the pit by those whom we trust or by those should be helping and protecting us.
When we are in the pit through no fault of ours, God will work behind the scenes on our behalf during our trials, to turn it around for our good. God knows the End from the Beginning, and it is only with our Faith Eyes we can see that is all going to work out for our good because we love God, Romans 8:28.
The Cupbearer remembered Joseph only after two years, Genesis 41:9-13. All that time Joseph went about doing his task with excellent spirit and the Farvour of God was with him and he got Promoted to be the Prime Minister of Eygpt, Genesis 41:39-40.
Joseph's Gifting opened the door to his Promotion. After he interpreted the Pharoah's Dreams, he became Pharoah's Economic Advisor, Genesis 41:33-36.
When We do what is Right in the Midst of being Wronged for the Wrong Reasons, no matter how difficult, uncomfortable, painful and inconvenient it might be, Be Encouraged, We will Grow Spiritually Strong!
God will use every unpleasant situations we are going through to bring out the Potential Leadership qualities in us to serve Him where we are, in the Home or in the Palace, wherever you are right now. I know it is hard when you are misunderstood for the wrong reasons especially when you know you are right.
The famine affected the World, Genesis 41:57, but there was Food in Joseph's House. The Food Program during the Worldwide Recession, Depression, Crisis and Famine came through Joseph, who was also strategically placed to provide for his whole family who later on joined him in Egypt, Genesis 46:26-27.
Joseph was in a Nation that did not know his God but soon the World came to know the God of Joseph who gave him Marketing Skills to keep his Nation Thriving while the World was in Famine both Economically and Spiritually
Go to the Joseph's School of Economics and see how brilliantly Joseph prepared his Nation's Economic Structures to Prevent his Nation from becoming a Welfare State and Transformed it into a State of Wellbeing! Genesis 41:41-57, 47:13-27.
God is looking for the Josephs of this World to Arise and Steer their Nations out of STARVATION USING GODLY STRATEGIES TO SUSTAIN LIFE.
PHARAOH named Joseph ZAPHNATH-PAANEAH, Genesis 41:45..meaning.. "one who discovers hidden things"or "a revealer of secrets" or "man to whom secrets are revealed"
With a name like that, Egypt was acknowledging that Pharaoh's Throne CANNOT ACCESS the THRONE of GOD. Only Joseph who knew the Secret Affairs of God can be put at the Helm of their Country's Affairs.
Dear Child of God, Don't be Disheartened when Your God Given Talents, Giftings and Dreams Don't Materialize or Manifest within the expected Time Span. God is setting you up for something bigger, greater and higher so that you can be strategically placed to provide for the world with your giftings. When the World is in Trouble the Church, that is, Us, Should Arise as the Solution....Amen.

GOD OF JOSEPH IS OUR GOD.
Brothers of Joseph planned to kill him, threw him into a cistern and finally sold him to the Ishmaelites for just 20 shekels of silver. He was only 17 years when this happened. Gen.37:12-36.
Midianites sold Joseph in Egypt to Potipher, one of Pharoah's officials .He toiled as a slave for 11 years. He was very faithful to his God and to his master.
Potiphar's wife tried to seduce him many times but he refused to sin against God. Finally he was accused of trying to rape her.
Joseph was put in a prison for 2 years for not committing a crime. His God was with him in every situation. Because of him, God blessed Potiphar in everything and he was finally the Manager to Potiphar. God was with Joseph even in prison and was given responsibilities. God gave him the ability to interpret the dreams of others. (Gen.39:21 - 40:23)
The journey from the dungeon to the Palace of Pharaoh took only a short time The journey from a slave of Potiphar to the Governor of Egypt took only a short distance.
One day, Joseph, as usual was in the dungeon. Maybe he was wearing his old and torn clothes. It seems like he had long hair and beard. All on a sudden, the Pharoah of Egypt wanted his help. Gen.41:14. It took only few minutes for Joseph to get dressed up to meet the king.
Joseph never took credit for anything. When asked to interpret the dream of Pharaoh, Joseph's reply was "I cannot do it" "but God will give Pharaoh the meaning of his dreams." In a foreign land, infront of the king, Joseph was witnessing, who his God is and what His God can do. God of Joseph, helped him to give the right interpretation of the dream.
Now we can see what happened to the person who was sold as a slave, who was in a dungeon as a criminal. His God changed his destiny in minutes.
He was made in charge of the palace Gen.41:40.
- He was put in charge of the whole land of Egypt. Gen.41:41,43.
- Pharoah took his signet ring and put it on Joseph's finger. 41:42.
- Pharoh dressed him in robes. (maybe it was made for Pharaoh ) Pharaoh put a Gold chain around his neck. 41:42.(Maybe he was chained as a slave earlier.)
Pharaoh had him ride in a chariot.Gen.41:43( maybe, one of Kings best chariots)
Made as the second in command in the country. Gen.41:43.
Because of his faith in God, Joseph said No to Mrs. Potiphar..He was only a slave at that time. Now the King of Egypt searched and gave the best girl as Joseph's wife. He got married as the Governor of Egypt.(Gen.42:6)
A small comparison.
What happened to Joseph and what His God did for him.
1.In Gen.37:23, Joseph's brothers stripped him of his robe. In 41:42, Pharoh of Egypt dressed him in robes.
2. In Gen.37:28, Ishmalites took him as a slave boy. Maybe he was walking all the way to Egypt without proper clothes(his robe was taken) sandals and proper food. In Gen.41;43, Pharoah had him ride in a chariot.
3. His brothers plotted to kill him. Gen.37:18. In Gen.41:43, Pharoah put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.
Joseph never went after name ,fame ,facilities ...but all those came after him. .".Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Mt.6:33.
Friends, are you going through painful, discouraging, disappointing experiences in your life? Are you ill treated by others for your faith? Never get discouraged. Remain faithful to God and serve Him with gladness.
God of Joseph is our God too. Let us honor Him in any and every situation.HE can lift you up from where you are and take you to situations or give you designations which you never dreamt of.
