Day 99 of 240 Days Bible Reading Job 1 to 5
This amazing book clearly shows us how different God's ways are from our own! God pointed out to the devil that no one living on the earth, during that time, was as pure and upright a man as Job was, who feared God and turned away from evil, Job 1:8. Yet, at Satan's insistence, God permitted him to rob Job of his children, animals, and most of his servants too, vs 12! Further, after Job worshiped God inspite of all these calamities that befell him, God then allowed Satan to inflict him with sores on his body such that he was in great pain for a prolonged period of time Job 2:4-7! And we would think, that when a man feared God in the way that Job did, he would always be surrounded with blessings on every side!
That is exactly what Job's friends who visited him during that time felt, and sorry to say, they were very wrong! Until Job was silent about his pain, his friends felt sorry for him and sympathized with him, Job 2:11-13, but the moment he opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth, Job 3, Eliphaz began to reprimand Job, Job 4! He reminded Job how Job had encouraged others when they were discouraged, but now when calamity struck him, he was discouraged, lacked confidence and hope, which Eliphaz felt would not have been the case, had Job been pious and blameless, Job 4:4-6! He even told Job that it could never be possible for God to make an innocent person perish or for God to destroy an upright person, vs 7! He also told him of the revelation given to him, that a mortal man could never be pure and righteous before his Creator, vs 17! He reasoned with Job that reacting in anger and wrath in such situations would only serve to kill him, Job 5: 2. He said that he himself witnessed how a fool was crushed by his folly and his children suffered calamity, vs 3,4, and how the hungry and thirsty would eventually benefit from his harvest and fortune, vs 5.
He adviced Job to submit to God's discipline and repent, so that God can lift him up and bless him once again vs 17! These chapters reveal how a man can be considered so right before God himself and yet God thinks it fit to allow Satan to inflict suffering on him, but only to bring him to a higher plane of blessing! It shows us how a man like Job could come to despair and hopelessness when struck with adversity and wish he had never been born, although God himself thought so highly about him! It also reveals how wrong we can be in our judgment of others, when our judgment is made according to our human perception, instead of being led by the Word and Spirit of God! So, let us determine to be slow to anger, quick to listen and slow to speak, in any given situation, for mercy will always triumph over judgment, while judgment will be merciless to the one who shows no mercy to others, James 2:13!
📖📖 JOB'S PROSPERITY AND PIETY
In Deuteronomy 28: 3-14 , God promised to prosper the nation of Israel as a reward for obeying His commandments.
The book begins with Job's integrity: Job was BLAMELESS ; UPRIGHT ; He FEARED GOD and SHUNNED EVIL.
Job's righteousness is attested elsewhere in Scripture: Ezekiel refers to Him and Noah as men who were known for their righteousness ( 14:14,20) . The number of sons and daughters, the number of animals and the great number of servants show the wholeness of Job's life, the perfection of his blessings and his great prosperity. Job's piety and wealth made him the GREATEST MAN in the region( 1:3b )
🎈 The fact that Job's Piety is mentioned before his wealth would give us a clue to endorse the link between his Character and his Wealth; between his righteousness and his blessings.
🎈 It was a sign of Job's PROSPERITY and STATUS that his sons could hold feasts in their homes and a sign of UNITY that their sisters joined them.
🎈 It was a sign of Job's PIETY and his LOVE for his family that he offered sacrifices for each of his children in case they had sinned .
🎈 Job was the spiritual leader and priest for his family. What about you and me?
🎯 The Bible often speaks about the danger of being rich / wanting to get rich :
Mark 10:25 " It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.
1Timothy 6:9-10 - "People who want to get rich fall into temptation ... and plunge men into ruin and destruction.... and have wandered from the faith .."
James 5:1-6 - Warning to Rich Oppressors .
HOW DID JOB MAINTAIN HIS INTEGRITY DESPITE GREAT WEALTH ❓
Job himself answers this question in Chapter 29:12-16 . He had used his money / wealth :
To rescue the needy and downtrodden people groups ( poor , orphan, widow, blind and lame ) .
He was a GOOD ADMINISTRATOR ( 29:7-11, 27 ,21-22 )
💞 Beloved, let us learn from Job's lifestyle 👉🏽 to be a good steward of God's Provision , a Spiritual leader and Priest of the family and a Blessing to the Underprivileged People. We need a Balanced Christian 🛐
GLORY TO GOD 🙏

CAN A MAN BE PURE? [Job 1-5]
👳♂ Job lived in Uz. The name Job = ‘hated’.
👳♂ Hated by Satan, loved by God.
👳♂ Why? - Because Job was perfect/complete, upright, fearing God, and turning aside from evil. Prosperity didn’t make him proud & forget God. [Job 1:8]
Both Job & his wife had suffered tremendous loss. Sadly, they did not support each other emotionally. While Job’s wife turned away in bitterness, Job fell face down before God [worshiped] and sought to find answers & comfort from Him.
💟 God provided cushions of grace. God did not leave Job alone in his suffering. 3 godly friends – Eliphaz, Bildad & Zophar – came to comfort him with their presence. They wept with him, and sat for 7 days in silence… what does one say in the face of such tragedy…
❓When there is a problem, we all want to pinpoint “WHY & WHERE things went wrong” so that we can work out solutions. Job’s friends wanted to identify the root cause of Job’s problems – and so they discuss & debate so that they could help Job recover and “move ahead”.
👥The discussions Job & his friends have, can be roughly split into 3 sections.
[ A) Job 3-12, B) Job 13-23, C) Job 24-34]
🌟 Fun fact: Uz (where Job lived) means consultation/advice.
🔸As the dialogue progresses through the book we see Job’s friends are stuck with this idea – “Suffering is caused by sin and is punishment from God.” [Rf Job 4:6-11, 5:17]
🔸However, we see that Job is not static in his thinking. We see the ding-dong battle between self-pity, despair & faith in Job’s heart.
🔸But we also see the hidden work of the Holy Spirit, as Job has flashes of inspiration & begins to dimly see the bigger picture.
🔸His faith grows through all his thinking, doubting & arguing – because he takes his thoughts to GOD.
💟 2 Ch 16:9: God’s eyes are always running through the earth to strengthen & support those whose hearts are turned towards Him. We see proof of that truth in Job’s life.
💟 God provides cushions of grace to Job by opening his understanding to the deeper truths of life: (So as we read through Job, watch out for those “Truth cushions of grace”…)
💟 The Book of Job has ministered deeply to me over the years. Through it I have learnt that God is unshakeably on my side. [Rf Rom 8]
💟 God does not always work in thunder and lightning. His greatest works are done through the still, small voice imparting truths that become solid rock on which I can stand confidently.
💟 God always has cushions of grace… I need to look out for them.
🔑❓Eliphaz (no doubt led by the Holy Spirit) asked a vital question: Can mortal man be in the right before God? Can a man be pure before his Maker? [Job 4:17]
✝ The Cross answers him triumphantly. … all have sinned…and are justified [put right with God] by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus [Rom 3:23-24]
✝ If we believe that Jesus who He says He is, we submit to Jesus as our King/Master/Lord & declare our intent to obey. By our faith we are justified [put right] with God... [Rf Rom 10:9-10]
✝Through Christ we are made holy and perfect/blameless in His presence. [Eph 1:4]
✝❓ Jesus suffered on the Cross to buy our forgiveness, freedom from sin, a new start … how can we receive it, and neglect this gift & walk in selfish, sinful paths?
Father God, I ask forgiveness for taking Your grace so lightly. As I look at the Cross, give me a renewed understanding of what it cost YOU to buy my pardon. Holy Spirit awaken my heart to delight in Your company & obey joyfully & willingly. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Shall we accept good from God and not trouble ..In all this ,Job did not sin in what he said Job 2..10
We learn 3 great truths from what satan said.In Job 1..9,10 God has put a 3 fold hedge around a godly man.First around him personally ,second around his family, and third around his finances and his property Satan had to ask God s permission to go thro these hedges.
One hedge was opened for Job and satan destroyed all of Job s property. 2nd hedge was opened and Satan killed Job s ten children .Job s wife was useful to satan to nag her husband, so he left her
Devil was unhappy because Job was blameless and had a God honouring character Satan responded by seeking permission to attack Job himself. So the last hedge was removed But God told satan not to take Job s life. So satan went out and smote Job with boils from head to foot. Then Job sat on a dung heap ,scratching himself among the ashes. Job s wife in anguish counseled Job to curse God and die. This unjust adversity would have tempted Job from trusting God. This was Job test of faith.
But Job rebuked his wife and warned her against speaking like a foolish woman. True believers must prepare themselves both to he tested by God with adversity and also to receive good from Him. God will not exempt us from trouble. Faith in God in trials and oppression gives triumph over them.
Job s acceptance of bad as well as good things from God s hand demonstrates his faith and righteousness. He still worshiped God and blessed His name. Job s submissive response to God is remarkable. He had faith that could not be broken and remained blameless .
🍇 Simple thoughts for
💫 deeper meditation.
Job: 2 : 10 " He replied," You are talking like a foolish woman: shall we accept good from God, and not trouble ?"
Job was a devoted man, blameless, upright, and God fearing who shunned evil. He was suddenly hit by various catastrophes in his
life. Job lost his children, his wealth and his health.
📌 But after hearing all these disastrous news, " Job fell to the ground in worship of God". ( Job : 1 : 20 )
His wife told him to give up on God, and to die. But he responded to her as we read in the verse above. He trusted God completely
throughout his suffering and afflictions.
📌 The book of Job asks the perpetual question," Why do the righteous suffer ?"
His devotion to his Redeemer and Provider was tested. God refined and strengthened Job's faith and character through the sufferings.
📌 When we suffer we often ask why ? It is natural that we want to avoid the bitter things in life. We can even tempted to lash out at God when we are hurting.
📌 But the Lord uses trials, teaching us how to trust him, depend on Him, and surrender to Him. So instead of asking" why" it is better to turn Him for comfort. Job never received an explanation for his pain, but he found that seeing God was answer enough.
📌 Have your character and faith been strengthened by God, when passed through trials?
📌 Have you experienced God's presence in your pain?

Job 3:3 “Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.”
👉In this chapter we find that Job asks three very heart breaking questions.
The first one is,❓ Why was I ever born?
His second question is, Having been born, ❓ why didn't I die at birth?
Job's third question is, ❓ Why can't I die now?
Job is a wealthy man living in a land called Uz with his large family and extensive flocks.
👉He is “blameless” and “upright,” always careful to avoid doing evil
👉He owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 1,000 oxen, 500 donkeys and many, many servants.
He had seven sons and three daughters.
👉All this wealth made Job '“he greatest man among all the people of the East"
👉Here we see that the pressure of his life is increasing.
He is outpouring with great grief.
👉He experienced the loss of his children, financial loss, severe health trauma, and eventually fell into the suffocating pit of depression.
🔥🔥…………… Through all these seasons of suffering, he was led to his greatest understanding of who God was. And that led him to have a more intimate encounter with God.
‼Many of us had bad days, maybe even years, when life just doesn’t seem to be going our way!
‼May be we had long seasons of frustrating days where nothing was working and everything was hitting us back.
May be in our frustrations we even ask these questions to ourselves.
❓……. ❓Why was I ever born?
❓………… ❓why didn't I die at birth?
❓……………… ❓ Why can't I die now?
But in Isaiah 44:2, it says, “I am your Creator. You were in my care even before you were born”
We are not an accident.
📍Our birth was no mistake or mishap, and our life is no fluke of nature.
📍Our parents may not have planned us, but God did.
‼He was not at all surprised by our birth.
‼ In fact, he expected it.
God prescribed every single detail of our body.
📍He deliberately chose our race, the color of our skin, our hair, and every other feature.
📍He custom-made our body just the way He wanted it.
📍📍God never does anything accidentally, and He never makes mistakes.
He has a reason for everything He creates.
🔥In our struggle, we may think that we are ALL ALONE,
❤ But……………. Jesus cares for us.
❤ He truly understands us.

I AM THE COMPASSIONATE AND MERCIFUL
⏳ The Jews Destroy Their Tormentors
In the Jewish quarter of every city in the empire the Jews organized to attack anyone who tried to harm them. People everywhere were afraid of them, and no one could stand against them.
In fact, all the provincial officials---governors, administrators, and royal representatives---helped the Jews because they were all afraid of Mordecai.
Mordecai had these events written down and sent letters to all the Jews, near and far, throughout the Persian Empire,
They were told to observe these days with feasts and parties, giving gifts of food to one another and to the poor.
and directed them and their descendants to observe the days of Purim at the proper time, just as they had adopted rules for the observance of fasts and times of mourning. This was commanded by both Mordecai and Queen Esther.
⏳ Job and His Family in Uz
There was a man named Job, living in the land of Uz, who worshiped God and was faithful to him. He was a good man, careful not to do anything evil.
He had seven sons and three daughters,
He also had a large number of servants and was the richest man in the East.
💫 The morning after each feast, Job would get up early and offer sacrifices for each of his children in order to purify them. He always did this because he thought that one of them might have sinned by insulting God unintentionally.
⏳ Satan Attacks Job’s Character
💫 When the day came for the heavenly beings to appear before the LORD, Satan was there among them.
The LORD asked him , What have you been doing? Satan answered , I have been walking here and there, roaming around the earth.
Did you notice my servant Job? the LORD asked . There is no one on earth as faithful and good as he is. He worships me and is careful not to do anything evil.
Satan replied, *Would Job worship you if he got nothing out of it?
You have always protected him and his family and everything he owns. You bless everything he does,
But now suppose you take away everything he has---he will curse you to your face!*
💫 All right , the LORD said to Satan , everything he has is in your power, but you must not hurt Job himself. So Satan left .
⏳ Job Loses His Property and Children
▪ a messenger came running to Job . We were plowing the fields with the oxen, he said, *and the donkeys were in a nearby pasture.
▪ Suddenly the Sabeans attacked and stole them all. They killed every one of your servants except me. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.*
▪ Before he had finished speaking, another servant came and said, Lightning struck the sheep and the shepherds and killed them all. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.
▪ when a storm swept in from the desert. It blew the house down and killed them all. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.*
⏳ Then Job got up and tore his clothes in grief. He shaved his head and threw himself face downward on the ground.
💫 He said , I was born with nothing, and I will die with nothing. The LORD gave, and now he has taken away. May his name be praised!
💫 In spite of everything that had happened, Job did not sin by blaming God.
⏳ Satan Attacks Job’s Health
💫 When the day came for the heavenly beings to appear before the LORD again, Satan was there among them.
💫 The LORD asked him, * Where have you been? Satan* answered, I have been walking here and there, roaming around the the earth.
💫 Did you notice my servant the LORD asked .* There is no one on earth as faithful and good as he is. He worships me and is careful not to do anything evil. *You persuaded *me to let you attack him for no reason at all* , but Job is still as faithful as ever.*
⚖ Why?God allows people to test? .........
Satan replied, *A person will give up everything in order to stay alive.
But now suppose you hurt his body---he will curse you to your face!*
💫 So the LORD said to Satan , All right, he is in your power, but you are not to kill him.
Job went and sat by the garbage dump and took a piece of broken pottery to scrape his sores.
His wife said to him, You are still as faithful as ever, aren't you? Why don't you curse God and die?
💫 Job answered , You are talking nonsense! When God sends us something good, we welcome it. How can we complain when he sends us trouble? Even in all this suffering Job said nothing against God.
💫 Finally Job broke the silence and cursed the day on which he had been born.
O God, put a curse on the day I was born; put a curse on the night when I was conceived!
⚡ *Can anyone be righteous in the sight of God or be pure before his Creator?
⚡ God does not trust his heavenly servants; he finds fault even with his angels.
💫 Happy is the person whom God corrects! Do not resent it when he rebukes you.
💫 God bandages the wounds he makes; his hand hurts you, and his hand heals.
💫 Be fair with Innocent
