Day 52 of 240 Days Bible Reading Group 3947 Chapter 1 to 4

🎈 My remarks on Ruth. She excelled in maintaining her :
R elationship with God, Naomi and the Israelites.
U nderstanding her own status and God's precepts .
T estimony of faithfulness and devotion .
H umility in faith and action.

🌹Blessed to be a Blessing to the Blessed People 👨‍👨‍👧‍👦

(A Concise Introduction)

📕 It begins with the phrase - "In the days when the Judges ruled" - a period when Israel had no kings and everyone did as they saw it fit ( Jud 17:6; 22:25) . It was the period of Israel's Apostasy, Moral Degradation and Oppression.

📕 It begins with FAMINE in BETHLEHEM - " the house of Bread ". It would be not wrong to say that Israel's disobedience has caused the famine . God had promised that he would send regular rain to his people, but warned them that they would face famine if they break the covenant and served other gods . ✒ Deut 11:10-17

This interpretation may be established by the fact that the famine had ravaged Israel but spared Moab , which was 25 miles away across the Jordan.

📕 The book of Ruth is the movement from EMPTINESS to FULLNESS :
Naomi lamented her loss of family ( 1:21 ) but ended up celebrating the birth of a son ( 4:14 - 17)

📕 The book of Ruth begins and ends in BETHLEHEM ( 1:1 ; 4:11 )
》 Going away from Bethlehem ( Famine to Funerals)
》 Coming back to Bethlehem ( Marriage to Maternal blessing)

📕 The book of Ruth is the movement from MOABITE Ancestry to MESSIANIC Ancestry :

~ Chapter 1 - RUTH the Foreigner in the city

~ Chapter 2 - RUTH the Gleaner in the field

~ Chapter 3 - RUTH the Kinswoman in the threshing floor

~ Chapter 4 - RUTH the Ancestor of the Messiah.

📕 KINDNESS is one of the theme of the book of Ruth :

> GOD'S KINDNESS to his people ( 1:6 ; 2:20 )

> RUTH'S KINDNESS to Naomi ( 2:18 )

> BOAZ'S KINDNESS to Ruth ( 2:13-16 )

> BOAZ'S KINDNESS to Elimelech's family ( 2:20 )

> NAOMI 'S KINDNESS to Ruth ( 3:1 )

> GOD'S KINDNESS to Ruth ( 4:13 )

All these godly packages was enough to testify that Ruth was a woman of noble character 📕 3:11b.
🙌 How blessed are we to read "A wife of noble character who can find ? She is worth far more than rubies."
"Many women do noble things , but you surpass them all" written by Ruth's great grandson ( Prov 31:10,29 )

May the good Lord bless us as we study and meditate the book of Ruth . May we improve our relationship with God and with one another.

Glory to God 🙏

Let Christ be our King

If you notice the yesterday's reading portion, the very first verse and the last verse (Judges 18:1 & 25 and in 19:1) it says
In those days there was no king in Israel, every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

The king rules, ordains, commands, legislates and establishes the kingdom.
A kingdom without king is like a bus without a driver, a plane without a pilot and a ship without a captain.

Our heart is like a kingdom.
Three persons can rule your heart.
1. Self
2. Satan
3. Christ
If Christ is not ruling then either self or satan is ruling the heart.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jer17: 9)
We cannot understand our heart, its very deceptive, wicked, unpredictable, dubious and volatile.

That's why it is said:
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.(Prov 4:23)

Time and again we need to harness our heart with the word of God:
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.(Heb 4: 12)

King David harboured his heart with a beautiful habbit, he always disciplined his heart with the word of God:
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.(Ps 19: 14)

That's why God testified about David saying:
I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.(Acts 13: 22)

We have one life and one heart. Let Christ come and rule in us so that we can rule with Him in the days to come.

Stay blessed
Ravi Bharat

👳‍♂ Boaz is a man whose delight is in the law of the LORD.
Evidence: The fruit his life bears:
🌿He practices gleaning as per Lev 19:10.
🌿He treats Ruth kindly & honourably as per Lev 19:33-34.
🌿He fulfils his role as kinsman redeemer as per Deut 25:5-10.
🌿 Result: He is like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf evergreen. In all that he does, he prospers. [Ps 1:3]
🌿While Elimelech went to Moab, Boaz was not anxious in the year of drought, he remained where he was trusting in the Lord, and it is quite obvious that God blessed & prospered him. [Rf Jer 17:7-8]
🌿While the other relative was more worried about his own inheritance, Boaz was willing to use his wealth & name to redeem Elimelech’s property & provide a son to ensure that the family name did not die out.
🍞 🌟He foreshadows Christ who redeemed us from the grave, to ensure that our name is written in the Book of Life, and that our eternal inheritance is secured.

👳‍♂In Solomon’s Temple, there were 2 pillars in the courtyard. One of those pillars was called Boaz. [1 K7:21]
🍞🌟In His letter to the Church at Philadelphia [brotherly love], Jesus tells them, that they would be a pillar in God’s Temple inscribed with God’s Name, the Name of God’s city, and a new name… IF they continued to obey His teaching. Christ’s command was simple – love one another as I have loved you. [Rev 3:12]
👳‍♂Boaz certainly showed love for God in obeying God’s command to be a kinsman-redeemer. He showed brotherly love in ensuring that his uncle Elimelech’s inheritance was secured.

Naomi & Ruth returned to Bethlehem [The House of Bread] because they heard that God had visited His people, and there was bread once again in Bethlehem.
🍞🌟 Many scholars point out that there was a famine of hearing the Word of God for 400 years, till suddenly there was a flurry of messages through dreams & angelic visitations as God proclaimed that the long-expected Redeemer was coming.
🍞 🌟 Jesus, the Bread of Life was born and laid in the manger in Bethlehem. The famine of the Word of God was over. The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among Man.

Ruth’s story ends with everyone rejoicing over the baby that was born. And as they cooed over him they proclaimed, “he shall be to you as a restorer of life, and one who cheers your old age”.
🍞🌟When Jesus the Resurrection & the Life was born, Mary did not receive very comforting words. Simeon prophesied to her specifically, ”A sword will pierce your heart”.

 Ruth means friend.
🍞🌟And as we look at the manger, we see the One who has redeemed us so that He may be a friend who sticks closer than a brother… One who dwells IN US. Emmanuel.

Through Christ WE are “Bethlehem Babes”… Children of God, born in the house of the Bread of Heaven… 🍼Like newborn babies hungry for milk, let us hunger for the Living Bread – the Word of God so that we may grow in the grace & knowledge of God. [Rf 1 Pt 2:2, 2 Pt 3:18]

O Holy Child of Bethlehem,
Cast out our sin, and enter in;
Be born in us today.
O come to us, abide in us, Our Lord Emmanuel. Amen.

Wherever you go I will go
Wherever you live I will live
Your people will be my people
Your God will be my God
Ruth 1:16

Naomi knew Ruth and Orpah as foreigners, would socially be a great disadvantage in Israel ,so she urged them to go back to their parents home, because she cared about them .But Ruth decision was

Donot ask me to leave you and turn back
Where you go,I will go
Where you live,I will live
Your people will be my people
Your God shall be my God
Where you die ,I will die and there I will be buried
Let the lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to seperate us.

Ruth's decision to leave Moab and go with Naomi tells about her faith in Israel's God .she vowed to serve Naomi 's God and Naomi.Ruth's words indicate the depth of her loyalty .she knew that this was a life and death decision and Naomi knew Ruth was serious about her decision and permitted her to come with her.Because of Ruth's faithfulness ,she was blessed to be a great grandmother of king David and a direct ancestor of Jesus.

⏳ Elimelech’s Family Goes to Moab

Long ago, in the days before Israel had a king, there was a famine in the. So a man named Elimelech, who belonged to the clan of Ephrath and who lived in Bethlehem in Judah, went with his wife Naomi and their two sons Mahlon and Chilion to live for a while in the country of Moab. While they were living there,

Elimelech died, and Naomi was left alone with her two sons,

⏳ Naomi Returns with Ruth

Some time later Naomi heard that the LORD had blessed his people by giving them good crops; so she got ready to leave Moab with her daughters-in-law.

You must go back, my daughters, Naomi answered. Why do you want to come with me? Do you think I could have sons again for you to marry?

💫 But Ruth answered, *Don't ask me to leave you! Let me go with you. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.

⏳ Ruth Works in the Field of Boaz

She took the grain back into town and showed her mother-in-law how much she had gathered. She also gave her the food left over from the meal

May the LORD bless Boaz! Naomi exclaimed .* The LORD always keeps his promises to the living and the dead. And she went on , That man is a close relative of ours, one of those responsible for taking care of us.

⏳ Ruth’s Redemption Assured

Some time later Naomi said to Ruth, *I must find a husband for you, so that you will have a home of your own.

So Ruth went to the threshing place and did just what her mother-in-law had told her.

Who are you? he asked . It's Ruth, sir, she answered. Because you are a close relative, you are responsible for taking care of me. So please marry me.

It is true that I am a close relative and am responsible for you, but there is a man who is a closer relative than I am.

⏳ Boaz Redeems Ruth

Boaz went to the meeting place at the town gate and sat down there. Then Elimelech's nearest relative, the man whom Boaz had mentioned, came by, and Boaz called to him, Come over here, my friend, and sit down. So he went over and sat down

Now in those days, to settle a sale or an exchange of property, it was the custom for the seller to take off his sandal and give it to the buyer. In this way the Israelites showed that the *matter was settled.

So when the man said to Boaz, *You buy it, he took off his sandal and gave it to Boaz.*

So Boaz took Ruth home as his wife. The LORD blessed her, and she became pregnant and had a son.

The women said to Naomi, *Praise the LORD! He has given you a grandson today to take care of you. May the boy become famous in Israel!

This is the family line from Perez to David: Perez, Hezron, Ram, Amminadab, Nahshon, Salmon, Boaz, Obed, Jesse, David.

🍇 Simple thoughts for
                                💦deeper meditation💦

Ruth: 2: 10 "Then she fell on on her face, bowing to the ground, and said to him," why have l found favour in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner"

⚡ Ruth was a foreigner. She was poor. If she had just come into the world, no one would have paid attention to her. She was someone whose future does not hold any hope.
⚡ However, Ruth found favour in the eyes of a relative of her deceased husband. He was a rich man and the owner of the fields where she chose to ask permission to glean grains. In response to his kindness, Ruth asked, " what have I done to deserve such
kindness ? I am only a foreigner."
⚡ Boaz the good man who showed Ruth such compassion answered her truthfully. He had heard about her good deeds toward her mother-in-law, Naomi; and how she chose to leave her country and follow Naomi's God. Boaz prayed that God,"under whose wings" she had come for refuge would bless her. As her kinsman redeemer when Boaz married Ruth, he became her protector and
part of the answer to his prayer.

💥 Like Ruth, we were aliens and far from God. We may wonder why God would choose to love us, when we are so undeserving. The answer is not in us, but in Him," God showed his great love for us sending Christ to die for us while, we were still sinners" (Romans:5:8 ) Christ has become our redeemer. When we come to him is salvation, we are under his protective wings.

💥Let us ask, Lord I don't know why you love me who is an undeserving sinner; but I don't doubt your love- l thank you and worship you. Please take a moment to surrender your life to the Lord in response to his undeserving love toward you, and sing this chorus:
" I surrender all,
I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessed
I surrender all.

💫 The Book of Ruth Is About the Saving Grace of the Messiah.

Ruth, the Beautiful Moabitess Girl, Was Once a Pagan Idol Worshipper. She Found the True God Jehovah After She Came into Naomi's Family! It Wasn't Easy for Her.

She's the Great-Grandmother of King David, the Ancestor of Christ Jesus. Ruth's Husband, Boaz, Was the Son of Rahab, the Harlot.

In the First Chapter, Matthew Lists the Genealogy of Jesus Where Three Other Tainted Women's Names Are Also Mentioned (Tamar, Rahab, Bathsheba). This Shows That Jesus the Messiah Represents All the Peoples of the Earth. If God Can Accept Gentiles Like Ruth and Incorporate Them Into His Plan of Salvation, Then There Is Hope for All. (Matthew 28:18-20). Real Salvation Is for All, Including You and Me!

The Book of Ruth Is a True Story of Three Simple People (Naomi, Ruth and Boaz), About Their Great Loss, Subsequent Personal Anxiety, Hope, Joys and Finally a Victorious Celebration of Fulfilment.

How Did David, the Man After God's Own Heart, Emerge From the Dark and Demoralized Period of the Judges? It's Because of the Providential Hand of God on Ruth's Family in Bethlehem. It All Began There, Sometimes Referred to as the Centre of the Globe! How God Prepares Us For Others, We Won't Know!

I Once Travelled Alone by Train to Hyderabad. On the Opposite Side Were a Father and a Little Baby Girl. A Little While Into the Journey, I Felt Bored and Began Reading the Bible, Very Unusual of Me to Read in a Public Place!

A Few Minutes Into the Reading, I Was Interrupted by that Person Sitting Opposite Me! He Said His Name Was Dr. Gowda. That He's Also a Christian! That Caught My Attention. I Said, "It's Good You're a Christian. I Am Mathew. How Do You Judge I'm a Christian? Just Because I Read the Bible, How Could You Judge I'm a Christian?

He Was Amused and a Bit Shaken! But I Assured Him That I Was Indeed a Christian! At That Moment I Asked Him to Define a Christian. Who Is a Real Christian? We Had a Lengthy Talk and Didn't Know How Time Went by. I Was Impressed by His New Faith in Christ.

My Point Here Is: He Was Once an Idol Worshiper, in His Words. Then There Was a Big Transformation in His Life! He's Highly Educated, a Medical Doctor, Married a Normal Telugu Christian Girl, Found Christ, and Is Now a Prolific Preacher in Bangalore!

A Person Born Into a Christian Family Need Not Necessarily Be a Christian. A Person Having a Christian Name Need Not Be a Real Christian. One Who Finds Christ and the Salvation Guaranteed Through His Redeeming Blood and Spirit Becomes a New Creation in God! We All Need a Redeemer, Like Boaz was to Ruth! If We Ask God His Spirit, Nothing is Impossible!

In All of Us, We Need to Imbibe in Us a New Ruth, Learn to Accept the One True God and Ruthlessly Throw Away All Our Existing Idols. That's the Day When God Says: in You, I Am Well Pleased!

Ruth 4:13:- The book of Ruth is written during the dark time of the Judges.

When we read Judges, it talks about the story of social chaos, disobedience to God, oppression, and deliverance

Ruth was a foreigner, she was from an enemy country, Moab. The Israelites despised the Moabites.
Though a “Gentile” by birth, Ruth was selected by the Lord to be in the GENEALOGICAL LINE OF THE WORLD’S SAVIOR.

Why did God chose Ruth for His plan?
Because she was a woman with the spiritual qualities, such as
unfailing devotion,
honor, and
Also she had bravery, faith, and obedience…

Character is who you are when nobody's watching.

Be a man/woman of character.

Never underestimate the power of our decisions, commitment, humility, and integrity!

Men and women of integrity are authentic and genuine.
