The Promise Fulfilled
I am the Humble
▪West Manasseh A part of the land west of the Jordan was assigned to some of the families descended from Joseph's older son Manasseh. Machir, the father of Gilead, was Manasseh's oldest son and a military hero, so Gilead and Bashan, east of the Jordan, were assigned to him.
▪ The Division of the Rest of the Land After they had conquered the land, the entire community of Israel assembled at Shiloh and set up the Tent of the LORD's presence.
There were still seven tribes of the people of Israel who had not yet been assigned their share of the land.
The land will be divided among them in seven parts; Judah will stay in its territory in the south, and Joseph in its territory in the north.
Joshua drew lots to consult the LORD for them, and assigned each of the remaining tribes of Israel a certain part of the land.
The Jordan was the eastern border. These were the borders of the land which the families of the tribe of Benjamin received as their possession.
Then the LORD told Joshua to say to the people of Israel, *Choose the cities of refuge that I had Moses tell you about. ⚖ If any of you accidentally kills someone, you can go there and escape the one who is looking for revenge. If the one looking for revenge follows you there, the people of the city must not hand you over to that one. They must protect you because you killed the person accidentally and not out of anger.
Thirteen cities in all, with their pasture lands, were given to the priests, the descendants of Aaron.
The Promise Fulfilled: So the LORD gave to Israel all the land that he had solemnly promised their ancestors he would give them. When they had taken possession of it, they settled down there.
The LORD gave them peace throughout the land, just as he had promised their ancestors. The LORD kept every one of the promises that he had made to the people of Israel
"All glory and honour belongs to God alone"
Joshua 21:43-45:- “So the LORD gave Israel all the land which He had sworn to give to their fathers, ………………. Not one of the good promises which the LORD had made to the house of Israel failed; all came to pass.” -
In the last 8 chapters, we were reading about how God promised inheritances to the people of Israel and how each tribe received that inheritance. God did what he said he was going to do long before any one of those who received the inheritances were born. Here, in the above verses, we learn 3 thing:
♦ God made promises to give!
♦ God gave everything Israel needed to settle in the land promised!
♦ God fulfilled ALL His promises..
So here we see the faithfulness of God. Not one good word of God failed. Many of us wonder if God’s promises are really true or not sure if God keeps His Word. God's word is trustworthy. His promises are true.
We need to trust that “God’s promises are true for us.”
Don’t let doubt keep us from experiencing His blessings.
God’s promises are nothing we deserve or can earn.
Move forward by faith, constantly trusting Him.
Be faithful and obedient;
He will keep every promise!
Are you free from your enemies?
Joshua 21: 44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
Rest also means peace.
Are you always wrestling with your enemies?
Rest doesn't mean living a trouble free life.
Rest means to overcome our enemies.
Who are our enemies?
All these are our enemies. We should overcome them and enter into the eternal rest. Jesus said, come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden I will give you rest (Matt 11:28). Only in Jesus we can find rest.
Satan is restless and he wants everyone to be always in restlessness.
In hell day and night no rest
In heaven we have permanent rest.
We should practice rest on this earth. In the midst of troubles, problems difficulties and hardships we should maintain the life of rest. Rest also speaks of having confidence in God.
When the dove was sent from the Noah's ark. It did not find a place to rest. The ship speaks of salvation. We cannot find rest anywhere in the world.we can experience the real rest in our life only in the ship of salvation.
