Is There Any Unconquered Land❓Joshua 13:1-5
Joshua had fulfilled the God's given task of conquering the land, yet the Lord told him that there are still very large areas of land to be conquered (v 1). Some of the UNCONQUERED lands were the regions of Philistines and Geshurites, Amorites, Sidonians and others.. (v 2-5)
Let us explore the unconquered regions and draw out some lessons for edification:
UNCONQUERED PHILISTINE'S REGIONS
Let us meditate upon the unconquered Philistine towns. They all had some historical importance, and we can draw some spiritual insight.
1) GAZA: Remember it was the place where SAMSON lost his vision ✒ Judges 16:21. He was born with God's intervention and was raised as Nazirite. God gave him power and strength but he chose a wrong life-partner by the name Delilah. To cut the story short, Delilah was successful to find out the secret of Samson's strength, and finally he was seized and the Philistines took out his eyes. ✅ Beloved, there are a series of GAZA in our lives where often we lost our spiritual vision @ Lust of the eyes, Lust of the flesh and Pride of life. Whom do you love - God or Delilah? When we lost our vision we perish.
2) ASHDOD: Here idol worship was popular with Dagon as the Philistine's supreme god ✒ 1Sam 5:1-5.
✅ Beloved, there are ASHDOD in our lives, and often we are under its grip. Anything that becomes more important than the Lord is to be checked. Remember, when the ark of God was kept beside Dagon in their temple, next morning Dagon was broken into pieces. Every idols will be thrashed out when we invite Jesus in our lives and give Him the lordship ✝
3) GATH: Remember it was the birth place of GOLIATH ✒ 1Sam 17:4. Goliath was huge and powerful warrior who challenged and mocked at the Israelites. Goliath is often pictured as a man of Pride, Power Rude and Arrogant ✅ Beloved, sometime we are engulfed with the spirit of GOLIATH @ pride, rude, arrogant.
Check out -- "pride goes before destruction ". Prov 16:18
We need the spirit / armour of DAVID (Holy Spirit) to defeat the schemes of GOLIATH in our lives.
UNCONQUERED SIDONIAN'S REGIONS
JEZEBEL, the wife of Ahab - the most wicked king of Israel, belongs to Sidion ✒ 1Kings 16: 30-33. She was the strong believer and promoter of Baal Worship.
?Remember, our Lord declared the sin / guilty of Thyatira church for being submissive to Jezebel. He will judged them severely ✒ Rev 2:20-23
Who are Jezebel today❓
》 Leading someone away from the Lord
》 Leading / encouraging others to worship idols
》 Immorality, Worldly pleasures.
? Beloved, today we are not to conquer lands but we have to conquer the known and unknown sins.
We have to overcome the SAMSONization, ASHDODology, GOLIATHism and JEZEBELism. ☺
HOW TO CONQUER THIS UNCONQUERED SINS❓
(1) RECLAIM the vision: Ask wisdom from above.
(2) REFOCUS on God's Statute: Break away from idols
(3) RELY on God's power: Claim Romans 8:31
(4) REFRAIN from evil practices: Turn to God.
✅ Beloved, take courage for the Lord will give us every place where we set our feets?. Be victorious?
Glory to God
Mark Boje, ArP
"So here I am today, eighty five years old. ----- I am just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then."
⚡ Once again we come across Caleb in this passage. As we know, Caleb was one of the 12 spies Moses sent to explore Canaan. Based on the report of the ten spies, the Israelites concluded that they could not conquer the land. But Caleb challenged their lack of faith. God took notice of his faithfuless and he is consistently described as one who wholly followed the Lord. Even in his old age, he relied on God's help to conquer the land.
⚡ Because of Caleb's faith, God miraculously sustained his life for 45 years in the journey through the wilderness, and finally allowed him to enter into the Promised Land. At the age of 85 Caleb said, "Just as mystrength was then, so now is my strength". With God's help Caleb successfully claimed his share of the Land. (Num:14: 24)
⚡ Caleb is a model for the youth as well for the old. When he was young, he stood in faith trusting in the promises of God and encouraged his people. When he became old, he continued his faith in God, to become stronger to face his old age. For us, when we pass 60 years, and become a senior citizen, we usually think, l am an old man /woman and it is a time to take rest. Look, Caleb had a dream in his life, to own the hill country of Hebron, where the giants were living. By God's help he fulflled his dream.
⚡ Caleb focused on God's power, not his own nor his advanced age. "The Lord helping me" that is the mindset that kept Caleb battle ready. And according to his belief, God helped him do what ever needed to be done. Yes, He is with us always as he has promised, "Lo, I am with you always even unto the end of the world" (Mathew: 28:20)
God does not forget about us also, as we grow older. Although, our bodies age and our health may fail, God's Holy Spirit renews us inwardly each day. So let us say with Paul, "I can do all this through him who gives me strength" (Philippians: 4:13)

Be Bold to ask "Give me this Mountain" Joshua 14:12
Caleb was 40 when he went as a spy into Canaan, Numbers 13:1-25. Now after 40 years in the wilderness and 5 years into the conquest of Canaan, he was 85, Joshua14:7, 10.
God always keeps His word with men so it would have been impossible for Caleb to die in the past 45 years, by warfare or otherwise, since God had given him His word that he would live to inherit the place where he went as a spy, Numbers 14:24.
At age 85, he was full of strength and vitality to take possession of a mountainous countryside by fighting the illegal occupants. He was not eating any energy bar or doing any weight lifting at gymnasium to build his muscle power.
So where did he get his strength at 85?
The answer was in his mouth. The powerful verse, Joshua 1:8. was what Joshua had to follow and that was what Caleb also did. He too would have meditated on the Word day and night and made sure that the Word did not depart from his mouth.
So what was coming out of Caleb's mouth?
This is what was coming out of Caleb's mouth, *I followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly,V8*. Caleb was not distracted for 45 years while wandering with his low level grasshopper mentality brothers. His heart was totally commitmented to following God.
Just as God Promised, V10. He took Shelter in the Promises of God. He focused on the Word and Not on the Challenges he had to face.
He has kept me alive for 45 years, V10 It was Good who kept him strong and he acknowledged it. He didn't give credit to anything else for his long and strong life. Caleb claimed to be as strong as when Moses had sent him, Joshua 14:11 and this was the truth, because later he expelled 3 giants from his inheritance, Judges 1:20.
I am still strong, V11. He was so convinced about his physical health and obviously ate healthy food which was permissible under the law. He was comparing his strength to what it was 45 years ago and was able to say that the desert didn't wear him out. He was still strong ? and vigorous as ever and battle ready.
The Lord helping me, I will drive them out, V12. Even though he was physically strong ? he relied on God's Strength. He never trusted in his own flesh but depended on God's Power.
In Verse 7 he recalled how he brought back a good report and the Anakites and their fortified cities could be conquered and in Verse 12 he was saying that nothing has changed with the people and the landscape and he was still able to fight them.
For 45 years Caleb had his mind set above and he kept it set, Colossian 3:2.
When it comes to climbing hilly places, the older people gets tired easily needing a walking stick or handrail. The younger ones keeps running and climbing and never slows down. But in spiritual life usually the slow and determined climber does more than the swift undisciplined runner.
Everyone has their unique mountain to climb. Your mountain could be your job, finance, marriage, relationship, target achievement, God'plan or anything else. Try to find some faith mountain climbers who have made it in the past and learn from them. Often we don't choose our mountains but the mountains choose use. We are identified as the mountain climbers when young ones are looking to us for climbing their mountain.
It was only fitting that Joshua, the man who had reported to Israel that they were able to overcome the giants should be the one to demonstrate that, in his own inheritance and glorify God in the very thing that had caused the nations defeat, Numbers 13:30-33; 14:6-10.
Dear Child of God, Remember to take one more l?k at Joshua 14:12. You are never too old to climb your mountain to ask, “Give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke in that day”
Our Mountains are given by God and it is worthy to climb because He is the One who enables us to reach the top and gives us His Strength so that we can sing, "He raised me up to Stand on the Mountain"
Caleb asked as his inheritance, the same mountain of Hebron, Joshua 12-13, where the spies had reported seeing the many giants, the Anakim, who caused Israel to fear and rebel at Kadesh Barnea. There is no doubt that, Caleb must have lived to enjoy his possession many years....Amen

Caleb looked for someone who would conquer Kiriath-Sepher [city of the book]. A young man called Othniel [lion of God] stepped up. Othniel conquered Kiriath-Sepher and changed the name to Debir [oracle/word spoken in the Holy of Holies]. Othniel married Caleb’s daughter Achsah. She got the Negev (desert) for her inheritance. She asked for a spring, and she got the Upper & Lower Springs. [Josh 15:16-19]
And in that little episode, we have a snapshot of the purpose & result of Christmas.
Citizens of Kiriath-Zepher: Adam & Eve ate the fruit of the Tree of KNOWLEDGE of Good & Evil.
Result: Mankind got separated from God. Our hearts were darkened as lost the truth about God & we developed a distorted understanding of good/evil. [Rom 1:21]
Then God gave the Law to teach what is Good/Evil actually is & to reveal the righteousness, justice & holiness of God.
Problem: Like a movie-trailer, it gives us some hints about the story, but it does not give us the full picture. It reveals that God would like to fellowship with us, but it does not actually make us friends with God; nor does it empower us to do what pleases God.
Othniel to the rescue: Then, Jesus, the Lion of Judah, stepped into the darkness of “Kiriath-Sepher”. In Him we see the full picture of who God is. [Rf Jn 1:4&9, 2 Cr 4:6, Heb 1:1-3]
Satan enslaved Man through an unholy fear of God based on lies & distorted images of God. Jesus came to reveal the Perfect Love of God and uproot unholy fear. [1 Jn 3:8, 4:16-18]
In perfect love, Jesus died as the Lamb of God, bearing the sins of the world on Himself. [1 Jn 2:2] The veil which separated Man from God was torn down. Man could enter into the Presence of a Holy God without fear. But more importantly, the Way was now open for GOD to make His home IN the redeemed, cleansed, & sanctified heart of Man.
Citizens of Debir: We are brought back into union with God, through the Holy Spirit, Jesus dwells in us & around us. [Jn 14:16-17, 1 Cr 3:16, Col 1:27, Col 3:3]
✨As “Jesus Sandwiches”, we enjoy friendship with God and run to God crying, ’Abba Father!’ [Jn 15:15, Rom 5:5, 8:15]
✨The veil over our hearts is removed. We begin to get a full picture of God. [Jn 16:13-14, 2 Cr 3:17-18]
✨We understand His heart, hear His voice and obey with love & newness of life. [Rom 7:6, 2 Cr 3:6, 1Co 2:10-12] Result: TRUTH & LIFE as we walk in the WAY
Springs in the desert: Like Achsah, we, the Bride of Christ, are living in the world – the spiritual Negev. Like her, we go to our Father, and ask Him to satisfy the thirst of our souls. And God generously grants us the never-drying springs of His Word + Holy Spirit.
Jingle Bells: The name Achsah means anklet with little bells. This is the Christmas season, and we will hear the song ‘Jingle Bells’ being played a lot. ?I was amused to find that as the Bride of Christ, WE are the ”Jingle Bells”.
So this season, go out and BE the Jingling Bells sounding out the melody of the Cross, proclaiming Joy to the World!
Abba Father, we want to celebrate Emmanuel who HAS come and HAS ransomed us from the grave. Tune our hearts to Your heart, so that we can go out & proclaim Joy to the World, because the Lion of Judah lives & reigns forevermore. Hallelujah! Amen!
Mighty Power of God at Work
The LORD'S hand is not shortened that it cannot save (Isa.59:1). The LORD of this earth was fighting for Israel. He encouraged Joshua by saying, Do not be afraid of them I will hand all of them over. I myself will drive them out before the Israelites. With these promises Joshua was encouraged to fearlessly go against all the kings in Canaan.
A Mighty Victory
King Jabin with all the northern kings collected their armies with numerous horses and chariots. Their number was as the sands of the sea shore. Though the sight was fearful the LORD gave them over to the Israelites and they were totally defeated and destroyed. The entire land was taken by Joshua. Their inheritance was assigned by lot. The Levites had no inheritance but had only towns to live in and pastures for their flocks.
A Great Testimony
Caleb was 85 years old. His testimony is amazing. He said: I am still strong today as the day Moses sent me out. I am just as vigorous to battle now. Caleb was blessed and given Hebron as his inheritance. After this the land had rest from war.
We as children of God do not live on a bed of roses. We have storms, troubles, trials, sorrows and tears crowding our lives. We have to take courage. The God of Israel is our God. He will carry us through with love and mercy. He will calm the storms and fight our battles for us.
In my own strength I am a "Zero" but with God's help and strength I am a "Hero". Praise the Lord.

⌛ Joshua Defeats Jabin and His Allies ⚖
⏳ The LORD said to Joshua, Do not be afraid of them. By this time tomorrow I will have killed all of them for Israel. You are to cripple their horses and burn their chariots.
Joshua did to them what the LORD had commanded:
▪The Territory Taken by Joshua
⏳ At this time Joshua went and destroyed the race of giants called the Anakim who lived in the hill country---in Hebron, Debir, Anab, and in all the hill country of Judah and Israel. Joshua completely destroyed them and their cities.
Joshua was now very old. The LORD said to him, *You are very old, but there is still much land to be taken:
⏳ Moses gave the Levites no portion of the territory. Instead, they received cities to live in, with fields for their cattle and flocks.
▪ Caleb Inherits Hebron
⏳ Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him the city of Hebron as his possession because he faithfully obeyed the LORD, the God of Israel.
▪ Ephraim and West Manasseh
⏳ But they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites have lived among the Ephraimites to this day, but they have been forced to work as slaves.
