📖 2Kings 20:1-11
Put Your House in Order
Hezekiah , at 39 years , was sick and was at the point of death. His sickness involves some kind of inflammation or boils ✒ v 7 》 Deut 28:35

🎈 A dying man on his dying bed expects :
~ A comforting Words 😘
~ Prayer from God's servant/people 🛐

🎈Hezekiah must have felt good and encouraged when he saw Isaiah coming to meet him but was deeply shocked when Isaiah proclaimed God's message for him ( v1b ) :
> Put your house in order

What could a dying man do?
How could he put his house in order at the eleventh hour?

Hezekiah knew that to " put his house in order " would involved a successor and at that time Hezekiah had no son. He had a national problem : Sennacherib, king of Assyria was a threat to Judah. His sorrows multiplied but the text says that Hezekiah prayed earnestly to the Lord

✔ Earlier two kings Jeroboam and Ahaziah had requested Oracles during sickness but they received negative replies in accordance with their wickedness ( 1Kings 14:1-17 ; 2Kings 1 )

✅ God heard Hezekiah's prayer by granting him a quantity of life with a 15 years extension and a quality of life that he would live in peace and secure ( v 6 ).

🎈 Manasseh was born when Hezekiah was 42 years ( ie Manasseh was born during the grace period) .

🎈Thus, Hezekiah was able to put his house and nation in order as there was peace and security for 15 years. 🙌

💞 Beloved, today if an angel of the Lord would come and repeat the same message "Put your house in order, you are going to die..." to us , what would be our response ??
》 Some of us would check the bank balance 💰
》 Some of us would like to consult the best doctors. 💉💊
》 Some of us would divide the properties amongst the children 🚘🏘
》 Very few would seek God's Will, Strength and Power through PRAYERS

The word DEATH is fearsome and painful, and we all have to face it one day . But for a child of God there is nothing to fear because to DIE is GAIN

Glory to God 🙏

2 kings 23:3 The king .......pledged to obey the lord by keeping all His commands ,laws and decrees with all his heart and soul

Josiah was crowned king at the age of 8.Some years later, he began to seek the God of his father David (2 chron 34:3)..He began to thoroughly destroy any sign of worship of pagan gods in Jerusalem and throughout Judah.

Not only did he do away with false worship ,he encouraged respect for the one true God,He ordered the temple to be restored and during that period Hilkiah the priest rediscovered the Book of the law ,that described all the ways people should obey God.

The young king tore his clothes with grief that the lord's law had been misplaced for so long He suddenly understood that spiritual rebellion was the reason for the tragedy of the nation He renewed his commitment by following all the lord's commands. As long as Josiah lived ,all the people of Israel did not fail to follow the lord ( 2 chron 34:33),God of their ancestors.

And God'sword says in 2 kings 25:25 Never before had there been a king like Josiah who turned to the lord with all his heart ,and soul and strength obeying all the laws of Moses. And there has never been a king like him since

Josiah responded with action ,doing what faith requires for the state of Judah's relgious life. Josiah recognised sin, eliminated sinful practices and also attacked the cause of sin Thus he dealt with sin effectively

Hezekiah was in a crisis moment. But Hezekiah was a man of prayer. And in this moment of fear & doom, he turned his back on the world, turned to God and cried his heart & guts out loudly to God. [2 K 20:3]

The chorus of the song – The warrior is a child (Twila Paris) always speaks deeply to my heart:

They don't know that I come running home when I fall down
They don't know Who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
Look up for His smile
'Coz deep inside this armour
The warrior is a child

When my daughter was a toddler, when she was hurt, she would put her hands up in the air and run to us crying, “Come to me,” wanting to be lifted up. And of course, one of us would lift her up to comfort her.

👨‍👦‍👦It has always stayed in my mind as a powerful image of us as toddlers running crying, “Daddy, come to me.” [Rf Rom 8:15] I don’t have to pretend to be strong. I can blub in fear & doubt.

Jesus completed that picture for us in the parable of the Prodigal Son, where He revealed that God doesn’t sit tight. Instead, He gets up, and runs to meet us and swing us up into His arms.

The LORD doesn't hate or despise the helpless in all of their troubles/afflictions. He has not hidden or cover His face from the afflicted. But when he cried unto Him, He heard. [Rf Ps 22:24]

People tend to get irritated with those who are weak. They may be so full of their own problems they have no time to listen to us, or they may get fed-up with those who keep talking about their problems… BUT not God. He is our Father, and His heart is always open to welcome any who come to Him in pain & brokenness.

Satan whispers, “You have slipped up on your Bible Reading… you don’t love God enough… why should He listen to you…. You have not been sincere in praying through the lists… You are lukewarm… You have not done enough to impress God… yada, yada, yada…”

BUT God NEVER turns away anyone who comes to Him. [Rf Jn 6:37].

Manasseh plumbed the depths of wickedness. BUT, when Manasseh turned to God, God forgave him & restored him. [2 K 21:1-16, 2 Chr 33:12-16]

Thank You Father for giving me the freedom to come running like a toddler to You. Thank You for being the safe place where I can relax my vigil, be weak… Thank You for understanding the fears & doubts that assail me. Thank You for lifting me back onto my feet and speaking truth into my heart to break the power of Satan’s lies. Thank You for upholding me with Your love. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Hezekiah’s Life Extended

About this time King Hezekiah became sick and almost died. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to see him and said to him , The LORD tells you that you are to put everything in order, because you will not recover. Get ready to die.

Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed:

Remember, LORD, that I have served you faithfully and loyally and that I have always tried to do what you wanted me to. And he began to cry bitterly

Isaiah left the king, but before he had passed through the central courtyard of the palace the LORD told him

to go back to Hezekiah, ruler of the LORD's people, and say to him, *I, the LORD, the God of your ancestor David, have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you, and in three days you will go to the Temple.

I will let you live fifteen years longer. I will rescue you and this city Jerusalem from the emperor of Assyria. I will defend this city, for the sake of my own honor and because of the promise I made to my servant David.*

Manasseh Reigns in Judah

Manasseh sinned against the LORD.

Manasseh killed so many innocent people that the streets of Jerusalem were flowing with blood; he did this in addition to leading the people of Judah into idolatry, causing them to sin against the LORD.

⏳ Josiah Reigns in Judah

Josiah did what was pleasing to the LORD; he followed the example of his ancestor King David, strictly obeying all the laws of God.

⏳ The Book of the Law was Discovered

Go to the High Priest Hilkiah and get a report on the amount of money that the priests on duty at the entrance to the Temple have collected from the people.

Tell him to give the money to the men who are in charge of the repairs in the Temple. They are to pay

Hilkiah told him that he had found the book of the Law in the Temple. Hilkiah gave him the book, and Shaphan read it.

When the king heard the book being read, he tore his clothes in dismay,

Go and consult the LORD for me and for all the people of Judah about the teachings of this book. The LORD is angry with us because our ancestors have not done what this book says must be done.*

⏳ Josiah Restores True Worship

King Josiah summoned all the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem,

and together they went to the Temple, accompanied by the priests and the prophets and all the rest of the people, rich and poor alike. Before them all the king read aloud the whole book of the covenant which had been found in the Temple.

He stood by the royal column and made a covenant with the LORD to obey him, to keep his laws and commands with all his heart and soul, and to put into practice the demands attached to the covenant, as written in the book. And all the people promised to keep the covenant.

Then Josiah ordered the High Priest
The king burned all these objects outside the city near Kidron Valley and then had the ashes taken to Bethel.

⏳ Josiah Celebrates the Passover

King Josiah ordered the people to celebrate the Passover in honor of the LORD their God, as written in the book of the covenant.

 🍇 Simple thoughts for 💫
                           deeper meditation.

2 Kings: 22: 1 and 2 "Josiah was eight years old when he became king ----- He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord ..."

Josiah sought counsel, followed the godly example of his forefathers David and Hezekiah and practiced obedience to God. He had
lots of help from Hilkiah, the High Priest and others- Good influences. He had a good start. Have you made any decision like this in your life, in your early ages ?

⚡Lord I don't know what is going to happen in my life, but I wish to follow you. Help me to learn and grow. Josiah became a true seeker after God. He began purging his Kingdom. Sin explored, not ignored.

⚡ Is there evidence of true holiness in your lives and worship? Temple restoration brought a beautiful gift -the book of the law is found. Word of God is the centre of all things.

⚡Have you considered the Bible as a gift of God. The early age at which Josiah dedicated himself to God is a prime example
for us to consider. We should take on his zeal. His purge of idolatry is something for us to follow as we seek to eradicate sin
in our lives.

⚡ We have to look at his humility towards the word of God. We want to consider his example of someone who sought first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

🔥 As we learn through the Bible how to honour God, we may grieve the ways we have fallen short of God's will for us. But we
can be comforted that He heals and restores us, and leads us gently into deeper understanding. Let's us pray", Lord, give me
a new start in this new year"

📖The Book found (2Kings 22.8 )

During the reign of Josiah, the king of Judah the book of law was found by Hilkiah the high priest while the people cleaned the temple of the LordWhat neglect it suggests and what blessing was bestowed by its discovery!

📖The Book read and heard(2 Kings 22.8,11,18)

When King Josiah heard the Book of covenant read he humbled himself, tore his clothes and sent out men to Huldah the prophetess to know what was written in it.
And when Huldah prophesied national ruin because of the disobedience of the people to the commands of the Lord,Josiah's heart softened.

📖The Book followed(2 Kings 23.3)

The king led all the people from the least to the greatest assembled in the temple of the Lord and read all the words in the Book.
📖The people renewed the covenant.
📖They repented.
📖A great revival broke out in the land.
📖The Passover was celebrated.( 2 Kings 23.21).

The Bible testifies of Josiah, king of Judah, "Never before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did with all his heart and with all his soul and all his strength in accordance with all the Law of Moses" (2Kings 23.25).

Dear friends,
If such dramatic changes resulted from the discovery of the Book of Law with its warning and its call to repentance, what inestimable blessing will be ours if we discover the length and breath of God's Word!

Let us praise God for giving us this opportunity to read the Bible through this Bible reading plan.

Let God's Word become live to us. Amen

Natural Health Remedies

2 Kings 20:1-7 Those who seek healing by prayer should not neglect to make use of the remedial agencies within their reach.

It is not a denial of faith to use such remedies as God has provided to alleviate pain and to aid nature in her work of restoration.

It is no denial of faith to co-operate with God, and to place themselves in the condition of most favorable to recovery.

God has put it in our power to obtain a knowledge of the laws of life. This knowledge has been placed within our reach for use.

We should employ every facility for the restoration of health, taking every advantage possible, working in harmony with natural laws.

When we have prayed for the recovery of the sick, we can work with all the more energy, thanking God that we have the priviledge of co-operating with Him, and asking His blessing on the means which He Himself has provided.

We have the sanction of the word of God for the use of remedial agencies.

Hezekiah, king of Israel, was sick, and a prophet of God brought him the message that he should die. He cried unto the Lord, and the Lord heard His servant and sent him a message that fifteen years should be added to his life. Now, one word from God would have healed Hezekiah instantly; but special directions were given, "Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaster upon the boil, and he shall recover" (Isaiah 38:21).

One Reckless Movement

2 Kings 20:13 The story of Hezekiah's failure to prove true to his trust at the time of the visit of the ambassadors is fraught with an important lesson for all.

How great the need that we set a watch upon our lips and guard carefully our steps! One reckless movement, one imprudent step, and the surging waves of some strong temptation may sweep a soul into the downward path.

We cannot gather up the thoughts we have planted in human minds.

Hezekiah's Failure Has Lessons for Us

2 Kings 20:12-19 Those with whom we associate day by day need our help, our guidance.

They may be in such a condition of mind that a word spoken in season will be as a nail in a sure place. Tomorrow some of these souls may be where we can never reach them again. What is our influence over these fellow travelers? Everyday of life is freighted with responsibilities which we must bear. Every day, our words and acts are making impressions upon those with whom we associate. How great the need that we set a watch upon our lips and guard carefully our steps! If they have been evil, we may have set in motion a train of circumstances, a tide of evil, which we are powerless to stay.

Time Runs Out

2 Kings 22:15-17 Through Huldah the Lord sent Josiah word that Jerusalem's ruin could not be averted. Even should the people now humble themselves before God, they could not escape their punishment. So long had their senses been deadened by wrongdoing that, if judgment should not come upon them, they would soon return to the same sinful course.

Stubborn, Idolatrous Hearts 2 Kings 23:25, 26

But the zeal of Josiah, acceptable though it was to God, could not atone for the sins of past generations; nor could their piety displayed by the king's followers effect a change of heart in many who stubbornly refused to turn from idolatry to the worship of the true God.

Learning Lessons the Hard Way 2 Kings 23:27

The time was rapidly approaching when Jerusalem was to be utterly destroyed and the inhabitants of the land carried captive to Babylon, there to learn the lessons they had refused to learn under circumstances more favorable.

Aaron Munhuweyi

The word of God has the power to heal your body without side effects of the medicine that you take - Before going to sleep every night forgive everyone and sleep with a clean heart - Let what you believe come out of your heart.

I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears, surely I will heal you.

And I will add to your days fifteen years, I will deliver you.

And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, what is the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go upto the house of the Lord on the third day ?.

So Isaiah the prophet cried out to the Lord, and He brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down on the sun dial of Ahaz.

2 King's 20 : 5,6,8,11. We serve a God who is our healer and who answers prayers and nothing is impossible to Him. He brought out Lazarus from the grave back to life ( dead and gone stinking after four days). The above scripture portion tells us that Hezekiah is nearing death and he turned to God for help in prayer and God healed him and added another fifteen years to his life and he is not sure that his prayer is answered so he asks God for a sign and God gives him a sign, the risen sun goes back by fifteen degrees.

The Bible is full of miracles, signs and wonders, when Jesus walked on this earth He healed and delivered every sick person who came to Him. He never sent back any person empty handed, He healed and delivered every one. Many didn't receive their healing, because of their unbelief, unbelief is a sin in the new covenant. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, If He has heàled and delivered multitudes before He can do it now ànd till the end of the world. He has paid the price in full for our healing on the cross of Calvary two thousand years ago, healing is our inheritance no person who knows, follows and walks with Jesus should suffer from sickness, because the price is paid in full and we ought to live a sickness and poverty free life here on this earth. Do we find sickness and poverty in heaven?, Do we require healing and miracles in heaven?. No we require it here on this earth and Jesus paid the price with His life here on this earth, so we have to see the goodness of God in the land of the living and even in heaven above. In the Lord's prayer we say that thy kingdom come where ? on this earth ( sickness and poverty free life) and enter into heaven after successful completion of our earthly journey. When we live a life of poverty and sickness does it bring glory to God?. Lazarus lived a life with poverty and sickness and made it to heaven, whereas Abraham lived a long and prosperous life on this earth and brought glory to God and Christ died so that the blessings of Abraham might come upon us.

Beloved if you are suffering from any kind of sickness in your body take the promise of healing in Isaiah 53:5 read, meditate, dwell and live in this promise and see healing manifest in your body.

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor so that you through His poverty might become rich.

2 Corinthians 8:9. Heavenly Father we uphold every person who is reading this message who is suffering from sickness in their bodies, we pray that Your healing virtue will flow from the crown of their heads to the soles of their feet inside and outside and they be delivered from their sickness and thank You for the healing that is already manifested in their bodies in Jesus name we ask and pray.

Amen and Amen.

God loves you.

2 Kings 23:3 :- “The king stood by the pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the LORD-to follow the LORD r........ with all his heart and all his soul, thus confirming the words......... Then all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.”

At the early age of 8 Josiah becomes king of Judah.
He reigns for 31 years.
As a young man he begins “to seek the God of his father David”

👉By the time Josiah was 20 he was already beginning to rid the land of places of idol worship and to rebuild the temple.
When the workers started work on the temple, they came across a long-forgotten scroll of Moses.

👉When Josiah heard the words read to him from the Book of the Law, he gathered the elders of Israel and the people of Jerusalem and read to them the words of the covenant.

📍 Josiah instituted a major religious reform that centralized the worship of God.

👉 In verse 2 and 3, we read that Josiah leads a great reformation.
“The king went up to the house of the Lord, and with him went…the priests, the prophets, and all the people,........... All the people joined in the covenant”

The king’s reaction was 📍complete humility and 📍heartfelt sorrow for the past violations of God’s Word.

👉Josiah’s Reformation is relevant today.

📍Josiah’s actions and revival is needed in our country and in our in the church.

But remember…

❤ Revival comes first in the heart of each believer.
👉We must each ask ourselves…….
❓❓ Am I personally revived?

📍📍 When believers get together and pray, God begins to work.
This is how the great revivals began.

👉If we want God to send revival,
🔥……….. God’s people must humble themselves,
🔥……….. ask forgiveness for our self-centered attitudes and sinful behavior.
🔥…………. confess our wretched love of self,
🔥…………. and seek to obey God and serve one another in love.

🔥 Rather than blame others, 🔥we must point the finger at ourselves in genuine repentance.
