Day 85 of 240 Days Bible Reading Group 3947 2 Chronicles 1 to 6

Solomon's Early Reign 2 Chronicles 1:1

For many years Solomon's life was marked with devotion to God, with uprightness and firm principle, and with strict obedience to God's commands.

He directed in every important enterprise and managed wisely the business matters connected with the kingdom. His wealth and wisdom, the magnificent buildings and public works that he constructed during the early years of his reign, the energy, piet, justice, and magnanimity that he revealed in word and deed, won the loyalty of his subjects and the admiration and homage of the rulers of many lands.

The name of Jehovah was greatly honored during the first part of Solomon's reign. The wisdom and righteousness revealed by the king bore witness to all nations of the excellency of the attributes of the God whom he served. For a time Israel was as the light of the world, showing forth the greatness of Jehovah. Not in the surpassing wisdom, the fabulous riches, the far-reaching power and fame that were his, lay the real glory of Solomon's early reign; but in the honor that he brought to the name of the God of Israel through a wise use of the gifts of Heaven.

The Difference Between a Calling and a Job 2 Chronicles 2

Thus at the head of Solomon's company of workmen there was placed a man [Huram] whose efforts were not prompted by an unselfish desire to render service to God. He served the god of this world, mammon. The very fibers of his being were inwrought with the principles of selfishness. Because of his unusual skill, Huram demanded large wages. Gradually the wrong principles that he cherished came to be accepted by his associates. As they labored with him day after day, they yielded to the inclination to compare his wages with their own, and they began to lose sight of the holy character of their work.

The spirit of self-denial left them, and in its place came the spirit of covetousness. The result was a demand for higher wages, which was granted.

The sharp contrast between the spirit and motives of the people building the wilderness tabernacle, and of those engaged in erecting Solomon's temple, has a lesson of deep significance.

The self-seeking that characterised the workers on the temple finds its counterpart today in the selfishness that rules in the world. The spirit of covetousness, of seeking for the highest position and the highest wage is rife. Our divine Master has given an example of how His disciples are to work.

To those whom He bade, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men" (Matthew 4:19), He offered no stated sum as a reward for their services. They were to share with Him in self-denial and sacrifice. Not for the wages we receive are we to labor. The motive that prompts us to work for God should have in it nothing akin to self-serving. Unselfish devotion and a spirit of sacrifice have always been and always will be the first requisite of acceptable service.

Solomon's Temple 2 Chronicles 6:33

Had Solomon continued in humility of mind to turn the attention of men from himself to the One who had given him wisdom and riches and honor, what a history might have been his! But while the pen of inspiration records his virtues, it also bears faithful witness to his downfall. Raised to a pinnacle of greatness and surrounded with the gifts of fortune, Solomon became dizzy, lost his balance, and fell.

Constantly extolled by men of the world, he was at length unable to withstand the flattery offered him.

The wisdom entrusted to him that he might glorify the Giver, filled him with pride. He finally permitted men to speak of him as the one most worthy of praise for the matchless splendor of the building planned and erected for the honor of "the name of the Lord God of Israel."

Thus it was that the temple of Jehovah came to be known throughout the nations as "Solomon's temple."

The human agent had taken to himself the glory that belonged to the One "higher than the highest" (Ecclesiastes 5:8).

Even to this day the temple of which Solomon declared, "This house which I have built is called by Thy name" (2 Chronicles 6:33), is oftenest spoken of, not as the temple of Jehovah, but as "Solomon's temple."

Aaron Munhuweyi

Where God built His church, the devil built his chapel ! God can see the future and you can see the moment ! You are the light of this world ! You must shine wherever you go.

Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people, for who can judge this great people of Yours.

Then God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life - but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king.

wisdom and knowledge are granted to you, and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like.

Also the king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones.

2 Chronicles 1:10-12, 15.

We serve a God who is the source of our life and everything that we have and possess on this earth. The above scripture portion tells us that Solomon asked God for wisdom and knowledge to rule the people, but God gave him riches, wealth, honor and long life and He gave Solomon riches and wealth like no one before or after him and Solomon made silver and gold as common as stones in Jerusalem.

God is the source of riches and wealth, the above scripture portion tells us very clearly that riches and wealth is from God. Did Solomon a ask for riches and wealth from God? No, It was simply and freely given to him. Did he work for it?, No when we work for the kingdom of God the kingdom works for us. When we seek God and His kingdom every thing else will come searching for us and get added to us. It doesn't require a believer to tell that prosperity is from God even unbelievers who don't know God can tell that prosperity is from God and Him alone. The devil is a liar it has taught the church not the world that God hates prosperity and loves poverty and so many believers not the world believe and promote the poverty gospel which is from the devil. God in the old covenant always addressed Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and
Jacob and all the three old covenant saints were rich and prosperous and they brought glory to God with their riches and wealth.

Religion has wrongly taught people that poverty pleases God, we serve a God who is the creator of the universe and everything in it and we are His children and joint heirs through Jesus Christ that tells us that what belongs to God belongs to us. Is God glorified when His children suffer in lack and poverty? Is God happy when the devil's bunch rules and reigns on this earth, we as His children are called to rule and reign (the kingdom of God has suffered violence and the violent take it by force). Lazarus knew God and he lived in poverty and sickness and he made it to heaven. Did he bring glory to God?. Abraham and his descendants were rich and prosperous and they made it to heaven victorious after completing their earthly journey successfully and Jesus went to the cross, so that the blessings of Abraham might come upon us ( Galatians 3:13,14).

Most of the church and the world's problem is concerned with finances. The gospel is not been able to be preached effectively in many parts of the world due to lack of finances. The gospel is free, but to spread, it requires finances. It requires finances to buy Bible's, construct churches, feed the poor, clothe the naked, conduct revival crusades, to take care of the sick, orphan and widows . If we ourselves are struggling for finances how will we spread the gospel?. The second coming of Jesus indirectly depends on us how fast we spread the love, " This gospel shall be preached to the ends of the earth and then the end shall come".

Money is not bad, but the love of money is bad, money should not be our master it should be our servant. Many of us generalise that if people are rich and prosperous they tend to fall . It is not necessary that every one who has and handles money should fall. Judas used to handle finances in Jesus ministry, he couldn't handle it well he fell for the love of thirty pieces of silver and hanged himself, whereas Paul handled finances well he started many churches with his own finances which he made through his business of tents and he turned the world upside down for Jesus. What works for you will not work for someone, what works for someone may not work for you, so we should learn never to generalise everyone, everyone's story and destiny in God is different, no one can and should be compared with the other.

Heavens only doctrine to man is love, If you love God and man you will preach the gospel, If you have God's love inside of you, you will sit and read and understand the Bible properly and you will never counter anyone with man made foolish doctrines, you will never stand against your own brethren in Christ. The devil has given man the job of creating his own theology, doctrine and denomination instead of preaching the gospel. It has completely and successfully diverted the attention and focus of man from preaching the gospel and sadly many in the body of Christ have fallen for it and they are doing the devil's job of standing against fellow brethren on the basis of false and foolish man made doctrines, neglecting the preaching of the gospel. What you do for Jesus on this earth only counts every thing else is a vanity. You will be rewarded for what you have done on this earth - preach the gospel.

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

2 Corinthians 9:8.

Heavenly Father we thank You for the wisdom, riches, wealth, honor, success and long life that You have given to us. Give us the grace to handle riches and wealth with wisdom and give us the grace to use it for the expansion of Your kingdom on this earth and to win souls for Christ, in Jesus name we ask and pray.

Amen and Amen.

God loves you

David said, “ The LORD made me understand in writing by His hand upon me, even all the works of this pattern. “ [1Ch 28:19] In faithfulness to the God-inspired blueprint, Solomon made 2 pillars named BOAZ & JACHIN, which he placed in front of the Temple. [2 Ch 3:15-17]

Boaz was kinsman-redeemer to Naomi & Ruth. Boaz’s son Obed begat Jesse who was David’s father. This was the line through which Jesus the Messiah would be born.

✝ This pillar was symbolically proclaiming what God would later make plain through Isaiah, ”there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots

✝ And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand as flag/banner for the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and His rest shall be glorious.” [Is 11:1, 10]

Jesus the Messiah paid the ransom to redeem us from slavery to sin and the sentence of death that was upon us with His own blood, so that we could become co-heirs with Him.

His Cross stands as a mighty banner inviting people from all corners of the world to come to Him to find peace & rest.

JACHIN: = Yah will establish.
✝ The Messiah would build God’s Kingdom of Righteousness & Peace.
✝ It would not be built by the works of Man, but the zeal of the Lord would accomplish it. [Is 9:7b]
✝ The Messiah would build & reign in the power of God’s Spirit. [Is 11:2-9]
The Messiah reigns & rules in our hearts through HIS Spirit, and grows His kingdom on earth through our yieldedness to Him.

🌳Both Ezekiel & Revelation talk of trees whose fruit & leaves brought healing, growing on the banks of a Life-Giving River flowing from the Holy of Holies/ Throne of God. [Ezk 47:1 & 12, Rev 22:1-2]
🌳The tops of the 2 Pillars were decorated with chains/garlands hung with pomegranates… a stylistic representation of trees… symbolic of a life of faith & obedience.

🌳"Blessed is the man:
🌱whose trust/confidence is IN the LORD,
🌱whose hope/security/refuge IS the LORD.
🌱 He is like a tree planted by water,
🌱that sends out its roots by the stream,
🌱and does not fear when heat comes,
🌱for its leaves remain green,
🌱and is not anxious in the year of drought,
🌱 for it does not cease to bear fruit." [Jer 17:7-8]

The pillars BOAZ & JACHIN were silently proclaiming the Gospel.
Jesus the Kinsman Redeemer ransoms us from captivity to sin, cut us off from Adam’s Race, roots us & grounds us in His love, so that His life in us causes us to bear fruit in EVERY season… enduring fruit… fruit with seed… seed which is planted to bring forth more trees… more fruitetc

Abba Father, thank you for having taken us spindly little weeds, and having planted us in the depths of Your love; for having grafted us into Your Son Jesus, so that we would be transformed from weeds into trees of righteousness bearing Your fruit. May each one of us be like signposts pointing the way to You. In Jesus Name. Amen.

🍇 Simple thoughts for
      deeper💫 meditation .

2 Chronicles: 6: 19   "Yet Lord my God, give attention to your servant's prayer and his plea for mercy. Hear the cry and prayer that your servant is praying in your presence"

The beginnings of
Chapters 2 to 5 show us the different steps Solomon followed to finish the temple.
Ch:2: 1 says" Solomon determined to build a house for the name of the Lord".
Ch: 3: 1 says" Solomon began to build the house of the Lord,"
Ch:4 : 1 shows the works are in progress.
Ch: 5:1 says, " Thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of the Lord was finished."

⚡ The Scripture points out that our our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you whom you have from God ?" ( 1 Corinthians: 6: 19 ) So in order to get our temple finished, we need to determine, begin, attain progress and finish. We have a promise from the Lord that " He who began a good work in you will bring
it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ" ( Philippians: 1: 6 )

⚡ Another lesson Solomon gives is that for whatever achievements we have in our life physically or spiritually, first of all we must dedicate them to the Lord who enabled us to gain that and also must give praises and honour to God with a thankful heart.

⚡ During his temple dedication prayer, Solomon began highlighting God's holiness and faithfulness. Then he gave God credit for
the success of the project and emphasized God's greatness.

⚡ After exalting God, Solomon asked him to pay special attention to every thing that happened inside the temple. He asked God to
show mercy to the people of Israel and to provide for them when they confessed their sin.

🔥 Immediately after Solomon's prayer," fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices and the glory of the Lord filled the temple." ( Ch: 7:1 ) This incredible response reminds us that the mighty God we praise and speak to when we pray is the same one who listens to and cares about our requests.

🎯 Have your ever experienced the presence of God to whom you pray ?

🔥 A Wise Petition 🔥

The Lord was with Solomon and he became exceedingly great. God said Ask whatever you want me to give you. Solomon made a very WISE PETITION. He asked for WISDOM and *KNOWLEDGE to lead and govern the people.

💰 God blessed him abundantly since he did not ask for any worldly wealth and honour. So God blessed him wisdom and knowledge. God also gave him wealth, riches and honour such as no king has ever had. Solomon was extremely wealthy. Gold and silver were as common as stones.

Preparations for building the Temple

Thousands of people had been appointed for the building of the Temple. He asked Hiram king of tyre to send cedar logs. He also sent Huram-Abi who was experienced in all sorts of engravings. Solomon had to send the servants of Hiram large amounts of wheat barley and olive oil.

💒 Solomon builds the Temple 💒

The temple was built in Jerusalem on the threshing floor of Araunah. The temple was extremely majestic and grand. He overlaid the ceiling beams, door frames, walls and doors of the temple with gold. Every part of the temple was built to perfection according to the plan that David had given. The furnishings of the temple also were completed.

The altar, the tables, lamp stand, floral work bowls, dishes, cencers were of gold. When the temple was completed the silver and gold furnishings dedicated by his father were placed in the treasuries.

The Ark of the Lord's covenant was carried by the Levites and placed in the inner sanctuary beneath the wings of the cherubim. The two tablets of Moses were in the ark. The priests and the Levites with a lot of music gave praise and thanks to God saying The Lord is good, His love (mercy) endures for ever. The glory of the Lord filled the temple as the temple was filled with a cloud. Both the temple and palace were completed.

🔥 Solomon's Prayer of Dedication 🔥

Solomon said that God promised with His mouth but with His hand He had completed it. He asked the Lord to always have His eyes and ears over the temple and hear all the supplications. He asked the Lord to forgive the people who sin and confess and turn to Him.

When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain or when there is a famine or plague as a result of their sin he asked the Lord to forgive them when they turn to the Lord and confess their sin. He pleaded that the Lord should even hear the prayer of a foreigner as he prays towards the temple so that the people of the earth may know His name and fear Him.The appeal of Solomon was on the basis of the eternal promises of God.

® Remember ®

The Lord blessed Job as he had blessed Solomon and made him prosperous and gave him twice as much as he had before. The later part of Job's life was blessed more than the first. We should remember that obedience to God's word and desire to please Him alone will give us a double portion of His blessings though we may have to pass through tough times in our lives.

⏳ Solomon Requests Wisdom

Solomon, the son of King David, took firm control of the kingdom of Israel, and the LORD his God blessed him and made him very powerful.

They went there because that was where the Tent of the LORD's presence was located, which Moses, the LORD's servant, had made in the wilderness.

King Solomon and all the people worshiped the LORD there.

That night God appeared to Solomon and asked, What would you like me to give you?

so give me the wisdom and knowledge I need to rule over them. Otherwise, how would I ever be able to rule this great people of yours?*

God replied to Solomon, *You have made the right choice. Instead of asking for wealth or treasure or fame or the death of your enemies or even for long life for yourself, you have asked for wisdom and knowledge so that you can rule my people, over whom I have made you king.

Solomon Prepares to Build the Temple

I intend to build a great temple, because our God is greater than any other god.

King David, Solomon's father, had already prepared a place for the Temple. It was in Jerusalem, on Mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared to David, at the place which Araunah the Jebusite had used as a threshing place. King Solomon began the construction

⏳ The Ark Brought into the Temple

King Solomon and all the people of Israel assembled in front of the Covenant Box and sacrificed a large number of sheep and cattle---too many to count.

Then the priests carried the Covenant Box of the LORD into the Temple and put it in the Most Holy Place, beneath the winged creatures.

The singers were accompanied in perfect harmony by trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, as they praised the LORD singing: Praise the LORD, because he is good, And his love is eternal. As the priests were leaving the Temple, it was suddenly filled with a cloud shining with the dazzling light of the LORD's presence, and they could not continue the service of worship.

He prayed, * LORD God of Israel, in all heaven and earth there is no god like you. You keep your covenant with your people and show them your love when they live in wholehearted obedience to you.

Then listen to their prayers. In your home in heaven hear them and be merciful to them and forgive all the sins of your people.

Solomon prayer to the God and answers from the Lord I Kings 8 & 9 and I Chronicles 6 & 7 chapters

After King Solomon had finished building the temple, he went and stood in front of the altar, where he raised his arms and prayed to the Lord- Lord God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below! you keep your covenant with your people and show them your love when they live in whole-hearted obedience to you

🙇‍♀1.Lord my God I am your servant, listen to my prayer and grant the requests I make to you today.

✝Lord answer to him, I have heard your prayer and your humble request that you made before me.

*🎬👑1."Lord God of Israel keep the promise you made to my father, you told him that there would always be one of his descendants will rule as a king of Israel, provided they obeyed as carefully as he did". so now God of Israel let everything come true that you promise to my father David your Servant.

The Lord:
*_🎬👑If you will serve me in honesty and integrity as your father David did and if you obey my laws and do everything I havmmanded you, I will keep the promise I tim
to your father David when I told him that Israel would always be ruled by his descendants._*

💒2.Solomon: But can you, God really live on Earth? Not even all heaven is large enough to hold you. So how can this temple that I have built be large enough.

💒The Lord: I have hallowed this temple, which you have built, as the place where i shall be worshipped and to put my name there for ever

💒🙏3. Solomon: When your people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against you, and shall turned against you, and when they confess and pray and make supplication to you in this temple,
Then hear you in heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which you gave to their ancestors.

Ans: I will keep my covenant with you and I will listen to your prayers. But if you shall at all turn from following me, you or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them, Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this temple, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight.

💒5. O Lord please watch over this temple day and night.

💒Lord: I will watch over it and protect it all the time.

Lord replied to the all prayer points of Solomon. The same Lord is with us. Certainly he will answer to all our prayer requests. So ask him.

Give Me Now Wisdom and Knowledge.

God appeared to Solomon that night in a dream and said, "Solomon, ask for anything you want, and I will give it to you."
2 Chronicles 1:7 CEV

Give me wisdom and knowledge that I may come in and go out before thy people: for who can worthily judge this thy people, which is so great? 2 Chronicles 1:10 DRB

What a great deal for King Solomon!
Ask for anything, and you'll get it! Anything!!! Wow! (2 Chronicles 1:7)

It's like our genie-in-a-bottle fantasy come true. God is making an offer for Solomon. So what does Solomon ask for? Pause! What would you ask for? 💫

Solomon asks God to give him wisdom! This pleases God, because it shows Solomon's desire to rule according to God's will. And he gets it all -- wealth, power, fame, and wisdom... and many more! Awesome!

For the author of Chronicles, wisdom was more than just knowing what was right.

a) It meant living according to God's instruction. 📖

b) A wise person worships God correctly and lives a moral life in keeping with the Law. 🛐

c) A wise leader or king governs justly. ⚖

Do we now have such leaders in the world in politics and religion and in churches we attend? Pray that we are blessed with such ones! Also, let's ask God to grant us the wisdom required to deal with our daily turmoil. Let's ask of Him and may God give us liberally all the right wisdom, teaching us what it means to live in His presence, to dwell continually with Him. ✴

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
James 1:5 NIV

There's another point to note in 2 Chronicles 1:7. Let's read it once again. God appeared to Solomon that night in a dream and said, "Solomon, ask for anything you want, and I will give it to you." 🧖🏻‍♂

Note this very important point. God is offering Solomon: ask for ANYTHING you want, and I WILL GIVE IT TO YOU." The invitation sets some value on human initiative. Divine resources are there to be tapped, there for the asking. Ask anything and it WILL BE GIVEN. No if, no shall, no doubt, but WILLI WILL GIVE IT TO YOU. There's no doubt about God's promises. 🙏

For the Christian, verses 3 to 6 serve to illustrate “Seek, and you will find,” and these verses exemplify “Ask, and it will be given to you” as mentioned in Matthew 7:7. We are the promised children of God. Ask anything, and God offers us freely, to ones who are His children. However, an effort is required from our side. If we ask, we get. If we do not ask, we do not get. Solomon spent time with the Lord, prayed, and got his prayers answered. We do not get because we do not spend quality time everyday with the Lord in real prayer and do not ask them rightly. We must check our heart's intentions. If we truly pray from the heart, God gives us more than we ask for. Our intentions are measured, and our prayers are answered. 💖

So seek all things first, in the right way, and all blessings would be added to you. Life would be beautiful. Life is beautiful. 🎊

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33

God gives all of us optimal wisdom to get closer to Him. Let's use this godly wisdom to rightly think and act using the available knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense and insight. Be blessed.
