Order driver arrest who failed duty

Thoubal Deputy Commissioner N Bandana has directed the district police to arrest  a driver engaged in COVID related duties for failure to perform duty.

As per a letter of the Deputy Commissioner written to the district Superin- tendent of Police, the driver identified as K Nando Singh was assigned to transport COVID-19 positive patients yesterday. However, he refused/failed to perform his duty without informing and giving any reason to his controlling officer which caused discomfort/suffering to the COVID-19 positive patients. His act had also derailed the normal process of transportation of COVID-19 positive persons to the designated COVID Care Centre, said the letter which directed the police to arrest and book him under Section 56 of The Disaster Management Act, 2005.

K Nando Singh, a  resident of Charangpat Mayai Leikai, is a driver at the office of the Thoubal CMO.
