Atleast 124 people tested positive in the last 24 hours with 43 cured/ discharged. Out of 124 detected yesterday, 38 from Imphal West, 35 from Thoubal, six from Kakching, 7 from Churachandpur, 10 from Imphal East, 4 from Kamjong, 3 from Bishnupur and 11 from Kangpokpi district.

The death toll in the State has reached 8 with the latest victim of 15 year old boy from Phubala, Bishnupur district. The boy was said to be suffering from kidney and brought to RIMS casualty ward yesterday. But both the boy and his father were found to be COVID-19 positive.

The patient die early in the morning. He was earlier treated at RIMS for kidney and was discharged on June 27  in the wake of the rapid surge in COVID-19 cases across the State.

There are reports that many villages and colonies in the hills and valley in Manipur have been sealed off and declared as containment zones since COVID-19 is on the raise to people who don’t have travel history.
